My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
You should get to know me because I make a great friend, and friends are what makes life interesting! I'm intelligent, I've got a sense of humor, I love experiencing new things and savoring familiar ones, I can hold my own in a conversation, and I'm passionate about some things, but will never ridicule you for your passions if they differ from mine.

For fun, I dance (bellydancing, contra dance, English country dance, Scandinavian folk dance, and a bit of swing dance), sing and play many instruments (including piano, flute, bowed psaltery, bodhran, and pennywhistle), attend and perform at Renaissance faires, read, and do a bit of modeling. I'm also knit and have recently learned inkle and card weaving.

I am vegan for a number of reasons, but the foremost is that I don't believe that any animal should be harmed just to provide me with sustenance I could get from non-animal sources. I follow an eclectic pagan spiritual path, and take the Wiccan rede (If it harms none, do as you will) very seriously. It's almost like the Hippocratic Oath of "cause no harm", I think. The health and environmental benefits are a lovely addition to this. Finally, I find that I've had a much more varied diet as a vegan than I ever did as an omni, and have become quite the culinary artiste!

I am looking for people who share some of my interests!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am currently a self-employed musician, playing in a band, the Tulstin Troubadours, with my musical partner, and doing some solo performance as Apryl Knight. I also design and make jewelry and clothing and do a little freelance graphic design. I've been fully self-employed since the tail end of 2009, so my goal is to make it completely pay the bills as soon as possible (and it's well on the way!)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm pretty good at learning songs by ear, but I still prefer to see the sheet music. I'm also really good at picking up new hobbies...perhaps a little less good at finishing projects, though. *grin*
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Usually my hair. At classic length (that level where the bottom meets the legs) and red, it's fairly noticeable.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
My favorite books are actually a series - the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon - historical fiction with lots of romance, set mostly in Scotland. Also, The Pooh Dictionary and Pooh's Life Instruction Book are great - all hail to the bear of very little brain! I'm a fan of historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, history, mysteries (yay, Sherlock Holmes!), and biographies. I've recently finished reading "As Always, Julia", which is the letters to and from Avis DeVoto and Julia Child. It's fascinating to have that glimpse back into the past, and also to see what really hasn't changed in 60 years. I'm also just finished "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline, which makes my inner 1980s geek sublimely happy.

If I had to list all of my favorite movies, I'd run out of room. I suppose my top picks for movies would be Serenity, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, The Wizard of Speed and Time, Amelie, Real Genius, Oscar, Noises Off, Monty Python & The Quest For The Holy Grail, Star Wars (eps IV-VI), Clerks, Love Actually, Eat Pray Love, and Still Breathing. My favorite TV shows are Firefly, The Guild (webisodes count, right?), Castle, Sherlock, Grimm, House, M.D., Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, Star Trek, Dharma & Greg, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I like a very wide variety of music - Irish and Scottish (The Corrs, Beth Patterson, Capercaillie, The Chieftains, Silly Wizard), Scandinavian (Värttinä, Garmarna, Kraja, Susanne Rosenberg), Indian and Bollywood music (I'm a big fan of A. R. Rahman and I adore the entire soundtrack to Main Hoon Na), Tuvan throat singing, Indigo Girls, world fusion (like Delhi 2 Dublin, which combines Indian music with Celtic music), Brian Setzer, Shakira, The Beatles, "Weird" Al Yankovic, The Lost Fingers, Peter Gabriel & Phil Collins, Zap Mama, Azam Ali, Billy Joel, Elton John, Joanna Newsom, Marian Call, Michelle Dockrey, Queen, Herb Alpert, Simon & Garfunkel, The Smothers Brothers, Pentaphobe, Beats Antique, Gypsy Caravan, and Björk. My iTunes main music playlist (all songs) is 8.2 days long, and it's woefully incomplete.

As far as food goes, if it's vegan, I'll eat it. However, I'm particularly fond of veggie sushi, Indian, Thai, Ethiopian, and vegan baked goods and chocolate.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My musical instruments
Chocolate
My iPhone (which has my music, my contacts, my calendar, and all my notes)
Hair Conditioner
A body pillow
Someone with whom to snuggle
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My schedule! Being self-employed and polyamorous, my calendar is my friend. *grin* I also think a lot about food (how to veganize this or that), since I love to cook.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either preparing for a weekend performance at a Renaissance faire, traveling to said faire, or (for a very few weeks out of the year) relaxing at home and being glad that I don't have to drive 8-25 hours that day.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The red in my hair comes from henna, not nature, though I fervently wish it was natural!

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
I'm looking for new friends, either male or female. If you're into dancing, making music, riding bicycles, watching movies, knitting, or karaoke, drop me a note! I'm involved in serious relationships with three guys right now (engaged to NachoSquidPants and dating alloni and zyrain, but we're polyamorous and are open to having additional partners, so if you think we might be a match, and you're ok with me having a primary and also being out of the state (performing at Ren faires) 4-6ish months out of the year, let me know!

You must have a working brain, be able to converse intelligently without using profanity, and should be able to construct a complete sentence with correct grammar and punctuation. Please don't send me a message that says "U hav nice hair." or "Yur butiful!" (No, I'm not making these things up, unfortunately.)

One last thing - I am polyamorous. Poly people have open and *honest* relationships. I am *not* going to help you cheat on your wife, so don't bother asking.
