My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
People call me Bubbles; as far as nicknames go, it's a pretty good one. No-one calls me that in New York though, I think that New York isn't as keen on nicknames as the rust belt.

I'm into reading about politics and sociology and all that good stuff. Perspective about things is pretty great, yo.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I like my job- I'm a freelance lighting person; I design and set up event lighting. Physical work, creative input, challenging tasks; I guess I'm one of those lucky people that enjoy their jobs. Within reason, of course; I've been in NY long enough to acquire enough of a misanthropic outlook, so it's not really that I get all that giddy about leaving the apartment for work.

I'm also doing the whole school thing for engineering, mainly because it dawned on me that as fun as lighting is now, it's a pretty sucky career when you're 50. Yay for responsibility and planning ahead! (by which I mean boo for not doing whatever the hell I want consequences be damned)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Tattoos, I imagine. Especially my sleeve. And then I get tall and skinny a lot too. I try and cultivate a kind of nerd-chic style, but the 'chic' part of that description might be up for debate.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I read a good amount of books, and tend towards the 'classics'. Part of why I read is to challenge myself and expand my concept of people and the world, and the acclaimed books are usually pretty broad and revealing of other people's minds. Though I've lately been trying to make an effort to expand beyond the white older male perspective that comes along with reading mainly classics.

My favorites though are some of the more stereotypically masculine stuff; David Foster Wallace, Fitzgerald, McCarthy, Kafka, Pynchon, et al. I love the importance they convey, the magnitude of the themes and symbolism explored. Though I am an absolute sucker for certain joy-reads like the magical realism stuff; Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Juno Diaz, you know.

I love 80s sci-fi movies. Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, Alien, Star Wars, Big Trouble in Little China. The color, the atmosphere, the adventure, it always gets to me. Also, MST3k, of course.

I grow bored of music and sounds easily, but I still have a large appetite for more music. I listen to music like I eat; in great variety, though I do have staples. The old standby for me is definitely hip-hop, especially of the indie and jazzy variety. If you suggest something to me, I'll be excited to listen to it; if you want a suggestion I'll be happy to provide it. Sharing music is always awesome, right?

I'm a vegetarian; mainly because veggies and fruit tastes really good. I'll cheat every once in awhile though- but we'll just keep that between us, eh? Indian and Thai food is my favorite.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Travelling; once or twice a year I'll spend a month or two backpacking around a country. I've a decent number of trips under my belt from the past couple of years.

And then other things I can't do without, well let's just say beautiful things. Poetry, music, paintings, whatever. I am a fan of the arts. All of the arts. I like experimental stuff, be it theater, books, music, games, tv, whatever.

And then pretend I put down something really interesting for the other however many I still need. Pretend that they were interesting though; we'll have to make it believable. And trust me, I wouldn't have put something down that wasn't interesting.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I like to have random conversations with people, either famous or just people I know. Funny how I always seem to be a lot wittier in these imaginary discussions than when I carry them out, isn't it? Shame, that.

I think I'll start handing people scripts, that way I'll realize my true conversation mastery. That's not weird at all.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
wandering around seeing if I can run into some trouble. I always fail and find adventure instead. Trouble is afraid of me.

On Saturdays I go trouble hunting.

Sundays: trouble roast (with a pineapple glaze!)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I ride my bike like I have a death wish. It's my guilty pleasure- I know I shouldn't but it just feels so damn good. I do my damnedest not be an asshole, but sometimes I do run a red that I shouldn't have, and so let me just announce to the internet right here and now: I'm sorry.
You should message me if

You want to. Please, if you don't want to message me, nobody's twisting your arm.

Unless somebody is, in which case I'd think you'd want to message me, to stop someone from twisting your arm. Mention that to me in your message, though, because I've got a few choice questions for the person that's twisting people's arms so that they'll message me.
