My self-summary
People call me Bubbles; as far as nicknames go, it's a pretty good one. No-one calls me that in New York though, I think that New York isn't as keen on nicknames as the rust belt.

I like my job- I do concert and corporate lighting, both in town and across the country. It's a lot of fun- I'm good at what I do, it takes me all over, and it's pretty challenging. I've gotten to do and see some really cool things and meet interesting people.

I'm also doing the whole school thing for engineering, mainly because it's dawned on me that as fun as lighting is now, it's a pretty sucky career when you're 50. Yay for responsibility and planning ahead!

I'm into reading about politics and activism and feminism and all that good stuff; but that goes without saying, right? I feel like in this day and age we shouldn't need to point out that our social opinions are not based in hatred and ignorance, right?
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a vegetarian; mainly because veggies and fruit tastes really good. I'll cheat every once in awhile though- but we'll just keep that between us, eh?

Also, I ride my bike like I have a death wish. It's my guilty pleasure- I know I shouldn't but it just feels so damn good.
The first things people usually notice about me
People dig my glasses a lot, though I've kinda grown bored of them. I try and cultivate a kind of nerd-chic style, but the 'chic' part of that description is up for debate.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read a good amount of books, and tend towards the 'classics'. Part of why I read is to challenge myself and expand my concept of people and the world, and the acclaimed books are usually pretty broad and revealing of other people's minds.

My favorites though are some of the more stereotypically masculine stuff; Moby Dick, Fitzgerald, McCarthy, Kafka, et al. I love the importance they convey, the magnitude of the themes and symbolism explored. Though I am an absolute sucker for certain joy-reads like the magical realism stuff; Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Juno Diaz, you know.

I love 80s sci-fi movies. Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, Alien, Star Wars. The color, the atmosphere, the adventure, it always gets to me. Also, MST3k (Servo, in my opinion, is the correct answer for the Joel/Mike question).

I grow bored of music and sounds easily, but I still have a large appetite for more music. I listen to music like I eat; in great variety, though I do have staples. The old standby for me though seems to be indie hip-hop, especially of the jazzy variety. If you suggest something to me, I'll be excited to listen to it; if you want a suggestion I'll be happy to provide it. Sharing music is always awesome, right?

Indian and Thai food is my favorite. And, as stated earlier, I'm a vegetarian. I find that being vegetarian leads you to cook a lot more and grow your skills, so I'm decent at a number of recipes.
The six things I could never do without
Adventuring. I just backpacked around Peru, that was cool. I like traveling becuase I like adventures.

I couldn't really do without my optimism. I'm always striving to better myself, and I can't imagine ever stopping.

Also, beautiful things. Poetry, music, paintings, whatever. I am a fan of the arts. All of the arts. ALL OF THEM

And then pretend I put down something really interesting for the other however many I still need. Pretend that they were interesting though; we'll have to make it believable. And trust me, I wouldn't have put something down that wasn't interesting.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Random nonsense. I tend to have inner monologues consisting of overly dramatic language and purple prose. It's highly amusing, actually.
On a typical Friday night I am
wandering around seeing if I can run into some trouble. I always fail and find adventure instead. Trouble is afraid of me.

On Saturdays I go trouble hunting.

Sundays: trouble roast (with a pineapple glaze!)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm usually up for doing something (depends on the season), meeting new people and stuff. So if you just want to hang out platonically, that's cool too; just let me know.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 20–30
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
You want to. Please, if you don't want to message me, nobody's twisting your arm.

Unless somebody is, in which case I'd think you'd want to message me, to stop someone from twisting your arm. Mention that to me in your message, though, because I've got a few choice questions for the person that's twisting people's arms so that they'll message me.
