My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Who am I?!? That depends on where you are viewing me from. Generally quiet in a social setting, I can become animated when talking about something I am really interested in or agitated about - traveling, boats, science fiction and fantasy, beaches, the ferry system and traffic in general, the viaduct, stupid politicians, rude/ignorant people, Wall Street greed and politics and anything else that catches my attention.

My sense of humor ranges from the slap stick to the sublime - 3 Stooges, Monty Python, Steve Martin, Eddie Izzard. Music tastes are almost as wide, tho I have a low tolerance of country and hip hop (tho, I will dance to the latter if I really HAVE to). I don't tolerate rude, stupid or ignorant people very well (tho I really do try). Dabble in gardening a bit, and like dreaming about how to fix up my house to better suit my tastes - or even better, build a new one!

And I like to travel - am realizing how much I like to go to foreign countries and just walk and talk to the locals and learn about the local history. Not into "adventuring" travel, but like to walk about and hike in the country side, especially France (oh, the pain du chocolat!)!

Also, about that age range thingy - you are only as young (or old) as you feel an act. I have seen people several years younger than I that acted like they were much older than I, and I have seen people older than I act much younger.

I am affectionate, loyal, and attentive
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Living, working, playing, dreaming.... Traveling for business and pleasure - including Jimmy Buffett concerts in Hawaii, Paris (and that is NOT Paris, Texas!) and Vegas (exploring my inner Pirate - ARGH!). Looking out at the world from atop the Throat of the World. And looking for the spirit of the great heart...
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening and also pretty decent at giving massages.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My smile and laugh ...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

a) Way of the Peaceful Warrior, Heinlein, Tolkien, M. Weis, D. Weber, J. Ringo, R.A. Salvatore, H. Beam Piper, U. LeGuin, H. Turtledove, C.S. Forester, Douglas Adams
b) LOTR and Star Wars, new Star Trek (and some of the old..), Buckeroo Banzai, Big Trouble in Little China, almost anything with Sean Connery, Dark Knight, Iron Man, Blade Runner, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, all the Harry Potter movies, Red Dwarf (okay, this is a TV series, but a great one!), V for Vendetta, MIB 1, pretty much anything by Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (campy, but fun). Not much into TV, but enjoy Jon Stewart, The Big Bang Theory and maybe a Simpsons episode or two (HULU anyone?)
c) Jimmy Buffett, Pink Floyd, Dire Straights, Moody Blues, Sting, fusion jazz in general, Vivaldi, Sade, Nora Jones, Jethro Tull, Candy Dulfer, DMB, and many more - no hip-hop or country tho...newest interest is Lindsey Sterling - hip-hop electric violin - really neat young musician - check her out on YouTube!
d) Sushi, Italian, Thai, Mexican, grilled foods, really, really fresh corn on the cob, really fresh fruit, warm bread, garlic, and of course, dark chocolate (but nothing over 85%)!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
First of course are my sons in particular, then family and friends in general. Sunshine and NW summers. Traveling, especially to warm sunny beaches and old European cities. And dark chocolate peanut butter cups...(oops, that's seven but who's counting these days!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
how the heck do you use the IM?!?! and are computers really evil? and how can I figure out how to move to Hawaii? and does putting peanut butter on triple chocolate brownies make them a real health food?

And why do women always want someone 5'10" or taller? What about all of us average height guys?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either catching up with my boys (alternate Fridays), out to dinner with friends (sushi!), or just chilling out after a difficult week at work...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
is that I want to spend several months in France polishing up on my French (at least get it a bit beyond the high school level!).

you want to chat - I may answer, I may not. I try to most of the time, but sometimes I just procrastinate too much, too long (sorry!).
