My self-summary
Hail and well met! I'm something of an eccentric geek looking to make friends in the Cary/Raleigh area. I'd love to find people to game and hang out with, as I don't really get out much these days.

I'm an INFJ personality, according to the Myers-Briggs test...meaning I'm something of an introvert with an overactive imagination and a penchant for wanting to help those close to me.

Just so everyone is clear--I'm in a loving and dedicated relationship, and I'm certainly not looking to start a new one. I'm aware this won't make me very popular on a site like OkCupid, but it'll hopefully weed out people who are just looking for sex. That's not why I'm here.

My boyfriend has a profile here, as well, and is also looking for friends. :D Reidiest's Profile

If you're into art and photography, another easy way to see what I'm all about is by looking at my DeviantArt gallery.

Oh! I HAVE A TUMBLR, TOO, YOU GUYS. Warning: gratuitous fandom.
What I’m doing with my life
When I'm not at my day job, I'm at the Faire--historic re-enactment, modeling, and character acting are what I love to do. At the moment, it's not something I'm paid for very often. I'm hoping to make that a full-time career one of these days, but until I get my break, I work at West Regional Library.

In addition, I'm considering going back to school to learn a trade...in this case, Esthetics and make-up artistry. It's something I enjoy doing--particularly helping others feel better about themselves via skincare, and bright, fun make-up looks as well as stage make-up.
I’m really good at
Being a lover of knowledge, I make a point to research just about every interest I have to a rather silly degree. Thus, there are a lot of things I'm at least halfway decent at.

--Singing
--Drawing
--Sewing
--Costume Design
-- Make-up application, both standard and stage
--Remembering pointless trivia, particularly if it involves the works of J.R.R. Tolkien ...that "other" language in the sidebar? That would be Quenya. I can do bits of Sindarin and Dwarvish, too.
--Navigation...I somehow wind up as the designated map-holder/navigator on almost ever trip I take. I'm not sure how this happens.
--Cooking
--Reminding people of just how amazing they are
--Making a fool of myself for the sake of humor
The first things people usually notice about me
If it's not the bright red hair, it's the outlandish garb or make-up I'm donning that day...or my figure, sadly. I'm proud of my assets, of course, but I really do wish people would talk to my face more often.

I'm rather outgoing, if somewhat awkward about it--I usually answer smiles and waves, and can start a conversation with almost anyone.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:
-The Silmarillion, followed by Tolkien's other works
-The Wheel of Time series
-The Mage Tower trilogy
I'm always reading, but the above titles are my all-time favorites.
I love chatting about books, particularly titles in the high fantasy genre.

Movies:
-The Lord of the Rings
-Thirteenth Warrior
-How to Train your Dragon
-Secret of Kells
-Ladyhawke
-The Princess Bride
-Robin Hood: Men in Tights
-Kingdom of Heaven
-300

Shows:
I don't currently have cable, but I do enjoy watching educational TV from time to time. UNC-EX has some decent programming--travel shows, science and history documentaries, etc.

Music:
I love music in most of its forms, but I have a special love for
symphonic metal and celtic/folk music.
-Blind Guardian
-Epica
-(old) Nightwish
-Edenbridge
-Clannad
-the Chieftains
-Faun
-Alestorm
-Medieval Baebes
-Blackmore's Night
-Heather Dale
-Albannach
-Loreena McKennitt
-Gaelic Storm

As for food...? I like food. A lot. Especially meaty things, like
bacon, burgers, and a nice rare steak. I'm also partial
to Mediterranean and Middle-eastern food, as well as Thai.
Ffff, too many things to list here.
The six things I could never do without
-My wonderful, amazing, handsome boyfriend
-My dearest friends
-Renaissance faires
-Having a pet in my life
-Halloween
-Music, joyful noises, just...noise. So I suppose that would be my ability to hear.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend most of my time these days planning. Planning for my career, my wedding, my future with my fiance, how we're going to make ends meet...it does get a bit overwhelming at times, but I'm giving it my best shot.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sitting at a gaming table with a group of my close friends, beating the crap out of a Nature or Perception check. My Eladrin Druid knows where it's at. ~
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If I weren't such a wuss about surgery/modification...I'd want some pointy ears.
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 20–30
  • Near me
  • For new friends, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
You actually read this profile...and you're looking for like-minded friends in the Cary/Raleigh area for hanging out, gaming, and good times. ~
