My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Moved to NYC Jan 2012. Could not be happier with my decision.

I was born and raised in Texas. Of course this means I lived on a ranch and had a couple of oil derricks in my backyard. I also rode a horse to school and own 5 handguns. Only the first sentence is actually true.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work in asset management, but because the company I work at is technically a non-profit, I can somehow sleep better at night.

I try to exercise as much as I can, but that hasn't been working out too well lately. I play a variety of sports like basketball and tennis, occasionally do yoga, and on rare occasions, I hit the gym.

Looking for someone down to earth (aren't we all), open minded, and intellectually curious. Yeah, I've been in New York for the last 3.5 years, but I can assure you, I'm not looking for the next best thing :-)

I'm a big fan of exploring the world as well. Can't decide if I want to go to Cuba or Turkey for my next trip. Maybe you can help me decide?
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Meeting people. Getting along with dogs. Awkward situations. Trivia (I dominate history/geography). I'm also the master of TMI on a first date.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That my fly is open.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: Das Kapital by Karl Marx (it was 2500 pages long so I pretty much forced myself to like it). Does the Economist count? I initially just bought it to look smart at the airport but it turns out they have a lot of insightful articles.

Movies: American Beauty, Pulp Fiction, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, and lots of documentaries.

Shows: Peep Show, Arrested Development, King of the Hill, The Office, Beavis and Butthead.

Music: Live jazz, alt rock/grunge, classic rock, anything old from the 60's to the 90's, and some random new stuff

Food: I literally like all kinds of food but I've been eating a lot of Indian lately. I'm from Texas, so of course, I LOVE steak. I'm also a scotch connoisseur (the only one I know who isn't an old white guy).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

At a dive bar, jazz club, or sitting at home nerding out reading a book or watching tv. Totally depends on how tired I am from the week.
