I've always wanted to live in NYC and decided to finally make the move on Dec 30th. I was here by Jan 5th. Could not be happier with my decision.

I was born and raised in Texas. Of course this means I lived on a ranch and had a couple of oil derricks in my backyard. I also rode a horse to school and own 5 handguns, 7 shotguns, and a couple of hand grenades. Only the first sentence is actually true.

I'm game to try just about anything. Whether it's nerdy (Jeopardy anyone?), crazy (I will never skydive again), open minded (let's go to a gay bar and see how many free drinks I can get), or intellectual (wanna grab some coffee and discuss the implications of the european debt crisis?), i'll probably be down. Scared to ask the guy at the table next to you if he's a famous actor you know? I'll find out for you. Just egg me on, and I might just do it. Or don't, and I might do it anyway.

Still trying to figure out this city. I find that it is really easy to meet people, but really hard to develop any meaningful relationships.

I'm also going crazy because I don't have any guy friends here and i'm worried what that will turn me in to. A good listener perhaps? Maybe a better dresser? Or possibly just a big wuss.

I work in finance for one of those firms that people probably bash on all the time, but what I actually do isn't evil or corrupt:-)

I live in the Lower East Side with two girl roomates who are never home. I think I may have even forgotten their names. I found them on craigslist so at least they haven't killed me yet.

Meeting people. Reading people. Getting along with dogs. Awkward situations. Trivia (I dominate history/geography). Conversations with strangers on the subway.

My friendliness and sense of humor.

Books: Das Kapital by Karl Marx (it was 2500 pages long so I pretty much forced myself to like it). Does the Economist count? I initially just bought it to look smart at the airport but it turns out they have a lot of insightful articles.

Movies: American Beauty, Pulp Fiction, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, and lots of documentaries.

Shows: Peep Show, Arrested Development, King of the Hill, The Office, Beavis and Butthead.

Music: Depends on my mood but i'm feeling 80's pop and 90's grunge at the moment (basically I like anything pre 2000 from the symphony to classic rock to hip hop, etc, etc.). Been hitting up a lot of jazz bars since I moved to NYC. I guess I like some indie music that's come out recently... mostly out of spite for the current state of pop music.

Food: I literally like all kinds of food but I've been eating a lot of Indian lately. I'm from Texas, so of course, I LOVE steak. I'm also a scotch connoisseur (the only one I know who isn't an old white guy).

Hanging out with friends at a dive bar or some hipster coffee shop. Occasionally i'll be at some douchey club because I was dragged there (usually i'll leave at the first opportunity). I like jazz a lot so I go to a ton of jazz bars/shows. And on those really pathetic nights, I sit at home on youtube watching crappy 80's music videos and tv show theme songs.

I hate cheese.
