My self-summary
My friends and I got caught stealing candy from a Walmart in Mexico. I still think we should have been allowed to keep the candy after they made us pay for it.

Just your average God-fearing, gun-toting, blue-blooded American living in Scotland*.

*Note: I am none of those things, except for American. I am that.

That about sums me up.
What I’m doing with my life
Just returned from Aberdeen, Scotland where I was working towards a master's in Latin American studies because obviously that's where a person goes to get one of those.
I’m really good at
I've never been hit by a car. So there's that. Also details. I think I'm pretty good at remembering details. Someone told me that once, but I forget who.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I am not Michael Keaton. It's pretty glaring.

Other than that, I guess I'd say the tattoos.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
White Noise, Pale Fire, Lolita, Simulacra and Simulation, East of Eden, and I'll admit it, On the Road, even though I bet it'd annoy me something fierce if I read it again now.

Wings of Desire, Aguirre, House, Vivre Sa Vie, Paris, Texas, In the Mood for Love, The White Ribbon, Tokyo Drifter, A Serious Man, Stroszek, Blade Runner, Bullitt, M*A*S*H, Oldboy, Rushmore, Raging Bull, Annie, Barry Lyndon, Night On Earth

Peep Show, Arrested Development, Seinfeld, Home Movies

Gang of Four, New Order, Orange Juice, Mission of Burma, Wire, Trust, Austra, Wild Nothing, Sonic Youth, Elliott Smith, Twin Shadow, The Fugees, Refused, Neon Indian, Fugazi, Bowie, The Smiths, Tom Waits, Lou Reed, Crystal Castles, El Guincho, The Clean

Vietnamese, Korean, Mexican, and of course anything that you can get at a good brunch place or bar.
The six things I could never do without
My bike! much coffee
Criterion Collection
Days like today
Music made between 1981 and 1989
A sixth thing
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Do Americans say "gray," or "grey?"

“It was important for him to believe that he'd spent his life among people who kept missing the point.”

Would you really want to be a public intellectual, a la Noam Chomsky? Seems like a lot of work.
On a typical Friday night I am
Friday night has no meaning now that I'm in school and not working a horrible 9-5.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've never been to a Bar Mitzvah and I'm kind of embarrassed about it.
You should message me if
You wanna let me ride in the sidecar of your motorcycle, especially if you have a pair of old-timey goggles I could wear.

If you used to raise your hand in class a whole bunch. If you still do, that's OK too.
