My self-summary
25-years-old, just finished my master's so I can teach others and help them make the world better.
I'm a gigantic nerd who loves sci-fi, fantasy, sitcoms, writing essays, acting, crafts, and nerdfighting.

I'm not
exactly sure what my purpose is, but I know I have one and will know what it is when I get there. I haven't gotten there yet, so I keep going forward.
What I’m doing with my life
After college and a little TV work, I went to grad school two years ago for composition and rhetoric. I figured I would be teaching intro composition courses at a community college, but I'm actually just starting a career as a writer for a hospital's research division. Life takes some unexpected turns, doesn't it?

I'm also thinking about going back to undergrad to get a degree in elementary education, then move on to work as a gifted ed teacher so more kids can have the same kind of educational growing experiences I was fortunate enough to have. One thing at a time, though.
I’m really good at
I'm always willing to listen and take an objective, but tactful approach to help people with their problems. I'm not a bad cook and I edit writing for grammar and style on reflex.

I've recently discovered I really like acting and stagecraft (set building, painting, etc.) and am OK at it for a rank novice. I have tons of fun while doing it and that's all that matters to me.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes. I've been told I have nice eyes by just about everyone. That's normally followed by my glasses, my hair, and my Chucks. I almost always have a pair on in one of many different colors.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love: To Kill A Mockingbird, the Harry Potter series, the Dresden Files, the Discworld Series, Kitchen Confidential, and just about any book set in front of me.

I'll watch anything, but tend to be a bit too cynical to watch reality TV. Parks and Rec, Community, Doctor Who, New Girl, and Supernatural make up most of my current viewing roster, but I've got a stable of old favorites I'll pick up any time.

I also love: the View Askewniverse, Back to the Future, School of Rock, Bruce Lee movies, Six-String Samurai, The Sandlot, Wayne's World, The Princess Bride, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and the Iron Giant.

I listen to: Barenaked Ladies, Sufjan Stevens, AC/DC, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Beck, the Lonely Island, Ray LaMontagne, Los Campesinos, the Beach Boys, the Beatles, Ben Folds, Brother Ali, Cake, Colin Hay, Daft Punk, Flogging Molly, Foo Fighters, Franz Ferdinand, Kings of Leon, Matisyahu, Muse, Pain, Polysics, the Presidents of the United States of America, Queen, the Rolling Stones, Ryan Adams, the Seatbelts, and Tenacious D.

I eat everything but raw tomatoes and okra.
The six things I could never do without
1. My glasses. I've got lackluster vision.
2. My cellphone. I fidget and it gives me something to do.
3. Something to read. I like learning.
4. A pen. I make lists habitually.
5. Friends. They push me and keep me on track. Plus, the fun.
6. A goal. If I'm not working towards something, I wither entirely.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
my future and the best way to make use of my skills and desires in a way that helps other people. I've got a brain, I just have to find the best way to use it to make myself, the people close to me, and the world better.
On a typical Friday night I am
trying to decide if I want to go out, marathon a TV show with my buddies, finish my new book, cook something, or try and find some new music or a play or other performance to take part in.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I unironically enjoy Power Rangers.
