My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Not much to tell. I'm a gamer that loves to write. I also love to act on the occasions that I get roles. I also play guitar. I bought into organized religion until going to religious school fixed that. Now, I'm spiritual but not necessarily religious. Though I do occasionally observe the high Judeo-Christian holidays, due to the way my family is.

I honestly don't know what else to say so if you've got a question that wasn't answered anywhere else on the profile, ask.

This would be far more detailed but I have issues writing about myself unless I apply me to a fictional setting.

Lastly, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator: INTJ
Keirsay Temperament: Mastermind.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
"Writing about the unholy is one way of writing about what is sacred. " -Clive Barker

"So we make stories of our own, in fevered and envious imitation of our Maker, hoping that we'll tell, by chance, what God left untold. And finishing our tale, come to understand why we were born." - Clive Barker

"You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you." -Ray Bradbury

I mostly write. I also act when I find roles. Aside from journalistic works and reviews, I work on a lot of different fiction. I might as well see where that takes me. I finished a Philosophy Bachelors and an English Literature Masters from Northeastern Illinois University, but my research is ongoing. I have started a Library & Information Science Masters at Dominican, through which I'm working as a faculty research assistant. Lastly, a group of friends and I developed and self-published a game and I might be doing a second.

I also occasionally have friends coming to me asking for advice or help regarding the paranormal. So I give what help that I can.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening, questioning and seeing things from almost every perspective. I'm very detail oriented so I'm able to guess a lot about someone or something simply from what I can observe. I'm good at making plans and then seeing the weakness in those plans to be able to fix them and make better plans.

I also have random streaks of artistry, but not in terms of sculpting or painting. I'm a writer, actor (at least when I find roles) and creative political activist.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Depends on the person and whether you meaning physically or personality-wise.

Physically according to others: beard, eyes, smile, body language. All of which apparently make me look like I'm plotting (I am, but not the way that people tend to think) or about to make a bad/corny dad/dirty joke (sometimes) when I don't look like a sagely philosopher.

Personality: People think I'm brilliant but also have a volatile mood. Have a tendency to brood. Think Gothic hero, Sherlock, or the Doctor. Oh. They also notice my nerdiness/geekiness.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I love books and movies but favorites vary by genre. My specialties and focuses in books are sci-fi, mysteries, horror, fantasy, philosophy, religion, mysticism (nothing wrong with knowledge), the paranormal (again, nothing wrong with knowledge), the occult (lastly, again, nothing wrong with knowledge), transhumanism, and graphic novels. Actually in terms of books thanks to having three eReaders, I usually have at least 2500 books, not including school books or hard copies, on hand most of the time. Currently in the process of re-reading Dracula, American Psycho, Fight Club, Ender's Game, the A Song of Ice and Fire books, The Magicians and Reality Is Broken.

As for film, I'm big on horror, sci-fi, film noir/crime, comedy, war movies, period pieces, well I watch pretty much everything. More often than not, it's usually horror. However, I write within and about horror. But if you go off of my movie collection, before family got me 53 horror movies two Christmases ago, the biggest portion of my movie collection was actually comedies and romantic comedies.

In terms of TV, most of the time now I'm usually watching BBC America, Syfy, or AMC. I also love the show Castle.

In terms of music I prefer classic rock, blues, jazz, classical, folk and country in general.

Food, well, I love food and I'm going to have a friend starting to teach me to cook soon.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Something to write with
something to write on
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
hmmm. a better question would have the phrasing "I spend a lot of time not thinking about..." well, not necessarily better but it would be easier since it's a shorter list. I think about and question almost everything.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either trying to find something to do or am alone curled up with a book, playing games, watching a movie, writing, or researching.

If I find something to do, it's usually getting together with a group of friends and either gaming or going through movie nights, which can be just going to a movie theater or hanging out at one of our houses. Usually the movies nights focus on bad movies that can be made fun of, though if we go to a movie theater we try to find something that at least looks entertaining.

Another that happens is I usually dive into games (video, board, dice, pen-and-paper, and narrative games), partially because some of my work and a considerable amount of my academics revolve around video games, gamer culture, narrative theory, etc.

In terms research, part of what I research and attempt to do is theorize what the coming technological singularity means for literature and literacy.

Before you ask about clubs, I don't tend to go to clubs simply because of the fact that club music and large groups of people don't really mix that well with me. What passes for club music just gives me a headache and large groups of people make me anxious and give me a bigger headache. I'm more of a dive bar kind of guy.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've got an obsessive streak when it comes to trying to figure things out. Think Sherlock Holmes or The Doctor.

If I'm not doing something creative, I get depressed.

While writing I tend to get the scenes that I'm writing as well as music to the scenes playing in my head. It usually means that I'm trying to compose the music that's playing in my head while writing just in case. You never know when random compositions might actually come in handy.

I actually like watching "chick flicks" and romantic comedies, despite what my favorites section and knowledge base might make people think (horror obsession).
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you're interested in gaming, learning gaming or are interested in gamers themselves.

If you've got any spooky stories to share.

If you're geeky as hell too.

Lastly, if you love to read.

One request on my end though. Don't bore me with messages solely saying "hi," "hey there," etc. Unless its the start of a chat file rather than a standard message. In that case, "hi" or "hello" or the like is acceptable as it is far more immediate and likely that I would get it quickly.
