Other people keep calling me an "old soul" and now I do too. http://www.the-open-mind.com/9-signs-youre-an-old-soul

I might as well say that I keep a profile here because I am actually interested in meeting some new people locally for drinks, dinners, movies, shows and anything else Portland has to offer. Also, because thus far it has been unbelievably difficult to find one single (as in not polyamorous) woman in Portland who does not chain-smoke, drinks but not to a degree of slurred speech and drunken stupidity, has lost or never had any religion, wants to travel extensively, spends as little time as I do as a spectator of sports i.e. not at all, doesn't have to cook (I do) but enjoys trying new foods and wines, embraces science and reason over superstition, has a thirst for culture/art/film/music and of course can stand to put up with regular doses of me. Maybe I just have the bar set too high.
What I’m doing with my life
Dreaming of a boat, an urban homestead with some big dogs, ever increasing amounts of travel miles and the elusive someone with a sense of adventure to share these kinds of things with.

Resigning to the possibility that the sarcastic, sultry, sassy, and spontaneous partner I pine for is too difficult to find, or at least the unlikelihood that she would be found here, but still worth a shot.
I’m really good at
Cooking. Beer/Wine. Fires. Crosswords. Randomness. Daydreaming. Nocturnal activity. Insomnia. Trivium.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Cinemas- The Fountain, The Royal Tenenbaums, Hero, Jackie Brown, Moon, Fight Club, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Blue Velvet, A Scanner Darkly, The Proposition, Last of the Mohicans, Sexy Beast, Time Bandits, Monty Python, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Little Big Man, 12 Monkeys, Blade Runner, Alien, Cape Fear, The Shining. Etc etc etc.

The few shows I've enjoyed: Twin Peaks, X-Files, The Outer Limits, Rome, Flight of the Conchords, Real Time, Cosmos, Planet Earth, True Detective. yeah Game of Thrones was good too.

Nightstand- Dan Simmons, Bertrand Russell, Thomas Harris, Christopher Hitchens, Palahniuk, Dawkins, Kant, Lovecraft, Philip K. Dick.

Music- Randomness akin to universal birth. 99% of the time I won't know that band you rave about. Pandora internet radio factors heavily into my musical discovery but really I'm a musical dinosaur.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I'll be cooking next?

Why good ideas are so difficult for humans to comprehend and implement.

Singularity

Cosmos.

My dwindling admiration and respect for humanity is most often applied to dead men: Carl Sagan, Nikola Tesla, Galileo Galilei, Voltaire, Bertrand Russell, Friedrick Nietzsche, Jean-Paul Sartre, Alan Watts, Stanley Kubrick, Philip K. Dick, Francis Drake, Sitting Bull, Jacque Fresco (glad he is still kicking).
On a typical Friday night I am
Wrap up at work and hopefully go out and enjoy the last couple hours before it is Saturn's Day.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have no shame.

I developed early on a sense of self and ability to function as a loner. Still have hope of finding someone to be my partner.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 19–39
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You are surprised by who you end up "matched" with.

You are tired of messages and would rather just meet for a drink because it does not have to be that big of a deal.
