My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Describe myself in one word? Techie, geek, nerd, intellectual, gamer, stargazer, and night owl - take your pick, I've got more.

Hey there, I'm Mark. I'm a huge nerd and proud of it. I love all things related to science, technology, computers, games, scifi, etc. You'd be more likely to find me browsing the internet or playing video games with friends than at the bar or club. Don't get me wrong, I like spending a night on the town with friends, but I'm perfectly content huddled under a blanket watching Netflix, which, I'll admit, is something of an addiction.

I work nearly full time doing data entry & database work and, after some time away from school, I've recently decided to go back for a degree in programming / computer science. Bonus if you get to know me: free computer repair.

In what little free time I have, I like to watch Netflix, browse the internet, tinker with my computer, play a few video games, or just kick back and relax. I head out with friends from time to time, but I've never been one to plan social outings - I tend to just spontaneously call up friends and go do something, which is getting more and more difficult now that we all have these pesky things called jobs.

I'm one of the few liberals in West Michigan. While political affiliation isn't the most important thing, I find I have too many irreconcilable, fundamental disagreements with most conservative hardliners that I've met to be able to get along with them. I spent 5 years in Ann Arbor, and I brought a bit of it back home with me.

Oh and facial piercings need not apply. Natural is best in my opinion, so I find body modifications repulsive. Pierced ears or small, tasteful tattoos are OK, but if you're body sets of metal detectors... no deal.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books:
I like distopian/scifi books (think Brave New World or 1984). I'm a fan of Dan Brown's books, as well as the Lord of the Rings series and Harry Potter. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time for recreational reading nowadays.

Movies:
I like most mindless guy movies (action, explosions, sex, etc.) but it's hard to pick favorites. The Avengers, V for Vendetta, the Dark Knight, the Boondock Saints, Serenity, and the
Matrix are just a few honorable mentions.

TV:
I like scifi shows, although most of the good ones aren't on any more. Shows like Battlestar Galactica, Stargate, and Star Trek were great. And who can forget Firefly? Alas, scifi nowadays consists of shiny vampires and paranormal bullshit. I've had to resort to watching dramas like NCIS and House. Don't get me wrong, those shows are great, but they are seriously lacking in spaceships.

So I recently started watching Doctor Who on Netflix. Where has this been all my life?

Music:
Rock of any variety, though I mostly listen to alternative. A few honorable mentions are Muse, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, 3 Doors Down, AWOLNATION, the Killers, Disturbed... I could go on. I'll listen to most anything so long as it isn't rap or country. I tend to find one song or artist and listen to it over and over until I can't stand it anymore. Currently the song is Sail by AWOLNATION, but that will likely have changed before you read this.

Food:
Basically if it's bad for me I find it delicious. I have a special weekness for Mexican food, and on an unrelated note I also love Taco Bell. In the event of the apocalypse, I'm pretty sure I could survive on peanut butter. I also like Italian food, and, like most guys, I'm happy with a burger and fries. Buffalo Wild Wings are my drug of choice; their chili con queso dip is better than crack (I can only assume).

Games:
It didn't ask, but I game more than I read, watch tv, or listen to music, so I'll tell you a bit about what I like. Like most guys I'll play a mindless shooter like CoD or Halo; I was really big into Halo 2 back in the day. Maybe I've grown out of them, or maybe I'm just tired of being cursed at by twelve year olds. I mostly enjoy a game with a good plot. The Mass Effect franchise was fantastic, as most stuff from Bioware is; Dragon Age, and KotOR, just to name a few. I just finished Bioshock Infinite, and am absolutely enamored with it.

I always enjoy a good strategy game, like Civilization, or RTS games, but I like to play at my own pace, so I rarely play them online. I've never been a big fan of MMOs.

I'm always up for chatting about games, so feel free to message me about them.
