My self-summary
On hold for a while while I deal with cancer in the family - sorry.
What I’m doing with my life
Working as a tax accountant for a pharmaceutical research organisation (the salary details over there are in USD - I'm not *that* well paid), and intermittently working towards my chartered tax advisor qualification (2 papers to go). Teaching myself to spin in the evenings, knitting mostly socks and lace scarves, and contemplating the acquisition of chickens while feeding 2 cats and an occasional hedgehog. Investigating Strange New Anime / Manga and wondering how I developed a Thing for assassins. Using too many capital letters. Trying to learn the oboe and in shock after a year of Polish lessons.
I’m really good at
Finding the bright side of bad stuff, and the downside to good stuff. Seeing the other person's point of view. Remembering pointless facts and forgetting I have a pan of water on to boil. Seeing double entendres in everything. Building flat pack furniture. Grammar (I use semicolons in text messages).
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm short & have (probably obviously) dyed black hair that's currently shoulder length (I'm growing out a very short once-white blonde crop). If they look more closely, perhaps 9 earrings (I don't have facial or body piercings, but I'd like a tattoo one day).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Authors - Dorothy L Sayers, Manda Scott, Saki.
Specific books - Poland: A History (Adam Zamoyski); Brideshead Revisited; Ludo and the Star Horse; The Dark Is Rising sequence.
Manga - Saiyuki, Weiss Kreuz, Kyo Kara Maoh!, Antique Bakery, Hetalia.
Films - Leon, Zoolander, Pulp Fiction, Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, The Sting, 10 Things I Hate About You.
Music - 80s Iron Maiden, Nightwish, Turisas, Sisters of Mercy, New Model Army, Amy MacDonald, Handel, Albinoni, Telemann. (I have the same username on Spotify)
Food - Steak, pizza, fresh peas, globe artichoke antipasta, mushrooms.
Drink - Porter, dark ale, wheat beer, tea (any tea) and tap water.
The six things I could never do without
The internet (and a laptop), yarn, cats, tea, books and music.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
When I can next get back to Lithuania. I went to Vilnius in 2010 and fell head over heels; I'm going back (to the same hotel) in November, and really should get round to visiting other towns as well (Klaipėda - Palanga - Nida and on to Kaliningrad then Gdańsk appeals).

How to pair up my Enormous Yarn Mountain with the Enormous List of Patterns I want to knit.

Why Cat #1 isn't bald, considering how much he moults.

How to fit all my bookshelves into the house, and all my books onto the shelves (I bet the House of Leaves never had this problem).

Whether there's anyone else who, on being told their father's in the garage building a rocket, just says "Oh, ok" and carries on with the crossword.

Silly film mashups (Gone With The Wind In The Willows; Some Like It Hot Fuzz; How the Princess Bride would have been if the Bride in question was Beatrix Kiddo)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a deep and abiding love for cock rock in most of its forms. Poison, Van Halen, early G'n'R - if it involved epic tight pants and hairspray I'll give it a listen.
Ok; that isn't very private. How about:
I've played D&D in the past, and would play it again. I'm not ashamed of this.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 35–47
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You live in or near Cambridge (or Vilnius), and don't write in text speak.
You speak Polish and don't mind the thought of helping me.
You're either comparatively respectable but don't mind that I'm often not, or you're alternative but don't mind my terribly beige career.

(Boolean operator for the above is OR, though AND would be awesome.)
