Professor at PSU.
Musician in a local orchestra.
Craft beer snob.
I love science, music, traveling and adventures, dogs, meeting new people, and new experiences. Message me if you want to find out more!
What I’m doing with my life
Research/Teaching/Service. Music on the side. Trying to keep my head above water.
I’m really good at
Research, teaching (or so my students say), music, story-telling, being even-keeled in most situations, sarcasm.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: too many to list, but mainly nonfiction and about religion, science, philosophy, politics.
Music: classical, especially obscure 20th century and/or Russian composers. If you're ever bored, I know way too much about Shostakovich.
Food: I'm pretty adventurous, love to try new things. Big fan of Szechuan, Thai, Indian, Peruvian...
Shows: Don't watch much TV, but I try to keep up with John Oliver.
The six things I could never do without
Finding out new things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Precipitation physics (seriously).
What I'm doing in life.
How to improve.
Why Pennsylvania has such terrible beer distribution.
On a typical Friday night I am
It varies: hanging out around a fire pit with friends; enjoying a good conversation and rare craft beer; on the couch watching a documentary. I can enjoy going out or staying in, but I'm not into the party scene and avoid undergrad hangout spots like the plague (for obvious reasons).
