My self-summary
I'm one of the few people who is actually from DC. After high school, I went to college in southern California. After a couple of years and decided I wanted to transfer, but ended up going to Culinary school instead. It was definitely tough at first, (I've never been yelled at so much in my life) but it was worth it and I've grown to love it.

I'm now living in the Logan Circle area in a group house with three roommates, we all get along pretty well so it's a pretty good dynamic. I'm still friends with a lot of people from middle school, high school and college, but at this point I'm spending more time with people I've met more recently.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm cooking for a living, I've bounced around town a bit after school but I think I've found a restaurant where I want to work for the long haul. t's hard work and daunting hours, but I've committed myself to it and am getting a lot out of it. I'm still relatively new to kitchen work, but I grown accustomed to it and can't imagine doing anything else.

When I'm not working, I try to stay active. I recently have gotten into rock climbing and am looking forward to climbing more outside as the weather gets nicer. I also make an effort to try out new restaurants, though it can be hard sometimes to find people to go on the odd days I have off.
I’m really good at
Working a 10 hour shift hungover, which works well for my line of work. Cooking, obviously. I'm also good at thrift shopping, watching and talking about TV and movies, most athletic endeavors, and drinking whisky sours.

I'd also like to think I dress pretty well, too.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have a surprisingly deep voice.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I like biographies of historical figures (my favorite one is The Years of Lyndon, about LBJ), cookbooks and books about cooking (especially French Laundry at Home and Soul of a Chef), and novels. Some of my favorite books are: Infinite Jest, Salt, A Few Seconds of Panic, The Omnivores Dilemma, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin. I'm currently reading Tree of Smoke, and a collection of hard boiled detective novels by Dashiell Hammet and Raymond Chandler. It's my new years resolution every year to read more so I'm always working to get a little free time to read.

Movies: Some of my favorites are Once Upon a Time in the West, the first three Indiana Jones movies, The Big Lebowski, Out of Sight, The Royal Tenebaums, The Assassination of Jesse James, Miller's Crossing, and Drive.

TV shows: The first 10 or so seasons of the Simpsons, The Wire, Parks and Recreation, Community, 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Archer, Friday Night Lights, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Luther, Eastbound and Down, Party Down, Mr. Show, and Top Chef.

Music: No real particular preference here. I like The Pixies, Johnny Cash, Queens of the Stone Age, The Misfits, Fleet Foxes, The National, Vampire Weekend, Matt and Kim, Buddy Holly, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and Ratatat.

Food: I've worked mostly in fine dining so of course I have an appreciation for that, especially traditional french cuisine and classic bistro fare. I'm a big fan of comfort foods and basic diner fare when I go out to eat. I love chicken fried steak, pho, falafel, gyros, and half-smokes from Ben's.
The six things I could never do without
1. The Internet
2. My Knife bag and assorted cooking equipment
3. Thrift Stores
4. NBC's Thursday lineup
5. A Cold Microbrew
6. and Friends and Family, of course .
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My five year plan- Where I'll be, what I'll be doing, where I'll be working, etc.
On a typical Friday night I am
Im normally working the dinner shift on Friday. After I finish I'll grab a drink or two with people from work, then try to meet up and get a few drinks with other friends. So drinking basically.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was a really picky eater as a kid, and even though I've gotten much better I still won't eat scallops. Oh and I once killed a guy cause he looked at me cockeyed.
