My self-summary
I'm the humble kind of awesome? Not really sure how to describe myself without being so modest I sound boring or so full of myself I sound cocky. I grew up in the Midwest, have lived around the world, and am counting the days until I can return home.
What I’m doing with my life
After college, I enlisted in the Army to pay off all my debts. I'm nearing the end of my contract, and not looking to renew it. After this little adventure is wrapped up, I'd like to return home and teach, either at the high school or college level. However, that is more of a "someday" plan, and the more realistic near-future plan is to contract for a few years. I'm sure grad school will happen at some point along the way, too. Or maybe I'll just say eff it and backpack around the world for a few years? It could go either way, really.
I’m really good at
Writing, reading, pressing the play button on my itunes, talking politics and philosophy, telling needlessly long stories, and useless trivia. Oh, and napping. I almost went pro.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm pretty tall, I guess? Not quite sure really.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love the classics, so anything by Dumas, Verne, or Chesterton is great. Tolkien is fantastic, too. I try to read balanced non-fiction, so for every book written about something with which I agree, I try to find an opposing book that makes me want to tear its pages out as well.

How I Met Your Mother is the best, and the show Justified nearly had me convinced to become a US Marshal (they aren't hiring, I checked). I re-watch Deadwood every other year, and I'm not sure I could keep my man card and not like Firefly. Other than that, I'm somewhat of Netflix whore.

I like any movie that has a well-written plot, or enough explosions to make me care less about a well-written plot. My favorites are Legends of the Fall, Braveheart, The Fountain, Black Hawk Down, and Milo & Otis.

My musical tastes are a little eclectic, but the last few years I've drifted out of the post-hardcore rock scene and more into folk and acoustic solo artists. Maybe I'm just getting old? Best bands though are Thrice, Pierce the Veil, Lydia, Punch Brothers, Marianas Trench, Common Market, Sarah Jarosz, Jason Isbell, and (old) Underoath.
The six things I could never do without
1. Words
2. Whisky
3. Suits
4. Music
5. Outdoors
6. Taco Bell
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Terrible question to ask somebody who majored in philosophy. Anything. Everything. A lot of the time, blissfully nothing (I'm a guy after all).
On a typical Friday night I am
Getting together with friends, enjoying good whisky and good conversation. Not much of a club guy, but I love a good pub and some live music.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
For years, as a kid, I was terrified of the alligator from the Garbage Pail Kids, and refused to stick my feet out from under the covers because I was absolutely certain he was going to eat them.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–35
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You enjoy Space Jam. I'm a pretty easy-going guy, but this is largely non-negotiable...

Or if you know the difference between whiskey and whisky.

But really, guys typically initiate the awkward introductions, so women who have the gumption to take the first crack at breaking the ice definitely stand out (in a good way).
