Lately I've been swing dancing a lot and playing sax. I also love climbing and getting out to hike and all that but I'm trying to let a climbing injury heal so that's all been on hold for the most part.
I'm good at being chill, I roll with the punches and not a lot really gets me upset or too worked up. It's just how I am and it also comes from the jobs I've done - I used to operate and repair nuclear reactors and now I work as a 911 dispatcher... There's not a lot I haven't seen.
Music - I play percussion, sax, a Brazilian ukulele-like instrument (which actually the predecessor to the ukulele, for what that's worth) called the cavaquinho, and I used to play trumpet and a little clarinet... I played records for many years too. I always end up being kind of an amateur ethnomusicologist, I'm fascinated with the hows and whys of music and musical culture, and how it got that way.
Cooking and baking, although I've not been doing this much lately. I'm getting back into it though.
I'm pretty decent at learning languages and linguistics related things.
To not completely blow this question off, people who I've never met seem to think they met me before or I look SOOO familiar. I put that down to being awesome - everyone wants to have met me :)!
On my to read shelf right now:
Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers
Sleep, Dreaming, and Sleep Disorders (The weird schedule renders this book amazingly interesting)
The Third Chimpanzee - Jared Diamond (to complement Sex at Dawn - The Prehistoric Origins of Modern Sexuality, which I've been busy passing around to all my friends). I'm still only getting started on Guns, Germs, and Steel too, I'm a slacker.
American Gods - Neil Gaiman (On the recommendation of a friend on a post-night-shift, caffeine fueled trip to Powell's)
I love all kinds of music: I'm obsessed with Brazilian music and I really enjoy classic rock, punk and post-punk, goth, industrial, alternative, indie rock of various sorts, electronic music, a lot of female vocalists like Yeal Naim, Regina Spektor, Lilly Allen, and that bunch. I grew up on The Beattles and The Doors, still love them. I'm really very open to almost anything, although I don't love most commercial hip-hop, top 40, and R&B.
I was never really a TV person but I've found myself following an awful lot of TV shows lately and am having trouble keeping up that pretext... Chuck, Burn Notice, Modern Family, Parenthood, Bones, Castle, Lie to Me. I like movies, but not enough to list a bunch here. If you care enough to want to watch it with me, I'll probably dig it.
I love most types of Asian cuisines, especially Thai, and anything spicy. I'm also partial to particularly awesome pizza, wings, and BBQ. I dream of having an outdoor kitchen/patio with a really awesome wok burner and a brick pizza oven.

-Penguins... they're just really awesome. I feel better living in a world where penguins exist.
I've been on a communication and psychology kick as of late. All my friends come to me now for communication advice, which cracks me up.
All kinds of crazy future plans and permutations of those plans. I have a lot of stuff to do still, you know?
