I am smart, inquisitive, and sarcastic.

My Self-Summary

I like lists and thinking out loud so, um, here is that in profile form....

I love living in nyc and taking advantage of that fact as much as I can. I'm looking for someone that shares my interests in museums, movies, and going out for dinner sometimes but, and this is pretty standard, likes a movie night on the couch. I want someone that's also sarcastic and can keep up with me when making jokes.

I'm a Yankee fan and, though I don't really follow any other professional sports, I do like watching them sometimes. My roommate's doing her best to teach me about football.

I'm a lawyer, primarily public-interest minded but presently working for the government. I don't work for a firm so my job is pretty strictly 9-5 and, overall, I like it.

When I have vacation time, I love to travel, especially to visit friends. Places I've visited include Africa, Japan, Hawaii, and a few spots in Europe. I would like to one day see more of Asia, more of Africa, and some of South and Central America....or, really, anywhere new. I hope to one day have the time and ability to take volunteer trips.

I love random things like superheros, especially Batman. I am planning on getting a christmas tree this year and decorating it with nothing but superhero ornaments. i have been batgirl for halloween way too many times. I also love pirates, ninjas, and other things of that genre. and i liked them before they were cool.

I will attempt to climb any sort of statue, especially if there's a no climbing sign (my favorites are large fiberglass dinosaurs. i have a photo collection going). I am terrible at bowling and karaoke but love both anyway.

Currently, I'm trying to teach myself how to cook. So far, I've had pretty mixed results but I'm hoping things will eventually improve. It'd be great to have some willing to participate in/try my experimentation.

As for what else I'm looking for, part of it is just the intangibles. Chances are if you like or are interested in even half the things I mentioned, we'd probably get along. I'm open to a relationship but I'm not one to rush into things - I prefer to take things one date at a time. things seem to progress naturally when they're meant to do so.....

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a lawyer. Right now I work for the government in the court system. It's not terribly exciting but I like it.

I’m really good at

random trivia (but not sports), wii bowling and drunk mario kart, stealing french fries off your plate, procrastination....

The first things people usually notice about me

i'm tall, i have dimples, i am quiet around new people but around old friends i talk too much.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

current tv: 30 rock, lost, the office, house, top chef, big bang theory
old tv: arrested development (rip!), the most recent battlestar galactica, buffy the vampire slayer, mash

movies: casablanca, usual suspects, shawshank redemption, galaxy quest, rear window, philadelphia story.....i could answer this question forever.

last read:
recent past reads: The Handmaid's Tale, A Trip to the Stars, American Pastoral, Middlesex
currently: The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay
On my "to read" shelf: Memoirs of a Geisha, The Nine, A Game of Thrones
Favorites: Jane Austen's novels, the LOTR series, 1984, Middlesex, Motherless Brooklyn......I really love to read

music: this is where i fail a bit. i'm bad about seeking out new things and just have a jumble of things i've stolen. i'm currently in the "delete everything" phase but have yet to add new stuff. i have a lot of cold play, death cab, garbage, 80s madonna......my ipod is a shameful place at the moment.

The six things I could never do without

my family and friends
my contacts/glasses
chocolate
books
a comfortable pair of sneakers
a good blanket

I spend a lot of time thinking about

what i want to eat for the next meal
where i want to go on my next dream vacation
how to make the time on weekdays go fastest til 5pm
......totally random and useless things that occasionally end up amusing

On a typical Friday night I am

in one of 3 places:

1. out with friends at a bar, usually something local in astoria
2. at home with my roommate getting drunk in the living room and/or dancing around like fools to random playlists, playing mariokart or wii bowling, having a movie marathon, or watching 3 weeks worth of jeopardy or the saved shows from the week on dvr.....this also happens a lot on days that are not friday.
3. on my way to nj to visit my family

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm Batgirl

You should message me if

you think i am awesome, we have some of the same interests, you want to have a beer sometime, because you want to.......this question is kind of dumb.
