My self-summary Propose an edit

Hi there! My name is Joshua. I'm an internship away from having an Associate's Degree, focused on being a paralegal. I enjoy reading, movies, talking politics and current/world events, cooking, and spending time with family and friends, doing whatever. I'm somewhat of a quiet person, though I open up a bit more once I get to know someone. I like to think I'm open-minded. I fall more on the liberal end of the political spectrum. I'm honest, trustworthy, and make a point of never making a promise I don't intend to keep.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

I'm currently reviewing my place in life thus far. Considering what my next move should be on a number of fronts, including education and future career.

I'm really good at Propose an edit

Listening. Keeping my promises. Being there when needed. I'm not so bad in the kitchen, either.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

I'm really quite shy and quiet when first meeting someone, until I've spent some time with them. After a little bit, I open up a lot more.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

Books: I love the Kushiel's Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey. Shogun by James Clavell, the River God series by Wilbur Smith. Star Wars novels. The Halo novels, any of the Lincoln Rhyme novels by Jeffrey Deaver. Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, the Lord of the Rings series, The Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop. I remember enjoying some of the early Dragonriders of Pern novels by Anne McCaffrey. I also like TPB collections, like Ultimate Spider-Man, Star Wars: Clone Wars, some X-Men stuff. Honestly, I don't really get to read these all that often, but it's something I want to try and find a little more time to do.

Movies: I love movies, in just about any shape or size. 300, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Children of Men, Constantine, Crank, Crash, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Hustle & Flow, The Incredibles, Juno, The Last Samurai, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Matrix trilogy, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Notebook, Serenity (and, of course, Firefly), Shoot 'Em Up, the Spider-Man trilogy, Star Wars I-VI (soon to include The Clone Wars), Transformers, The Transporter 1 & 2, V For Vendetta, the X-Men trilogy.

The entire list would be way too long. But this is a good cross section, I think.

Music: I'll listen to just about anything. Rap, R&B, Country, Rock. Whatever. I like Evanescence, Akon, Flyleaf, Hinder, Shania Twain, Trace Adkins, Nickelback, etc. Some Disturbed, Katy Perry, James Blunt. I will say, though, that I'm really not all that crazy about anything where the singer does more screaming than singing. I tend to like music that has a good beat, good rhythm. Something where the lyrics flow nicely with the overall sound of the song.

Games (What? They've got every other type of media...): I love the Legend of Zelda series. Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii. Guitar Hero III, hoping to get into Rock Band sometime soon. Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I'm hoping to get an Xbox 360 in the near future for things like Gears of War, Fable, Bioshock. I like shooters, which are sadly lacking on the Wii. I'd like to check out Patapon and Loco Roco for my PSP. And a bunch of other titles, too numerous to mention. But again, a decent cross section.

Honestly, I have a hard time picking a favorite anything. There are so many different tastes, moods, feelings; and with each of these comes different preferences and/or desires. So a favorite is hard to come by.

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

1)My family
2)Books
3)The internet
4)Movies
5)My iPod
6)Videogames (Let's face it, I could live without them...but where's the fun in that?)

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

My future. What life might hold for me, just around the bend. Politics, world events, and how I might one day be involved in one or both.

If it's a really clear night, with a lot of stars, I start to think just how small we really are in terms of the universe. It's interesting to see what they're discovering on Mars. Read an article the other day about how a warp drive could feasibly be accomplished, the physics necessary, etc. Won't happen anytime in the next 100 years (barring, of course, the discovery of alien tech), but it's still interesting. And it all just leads to some excitement on how much our understanding of the universe will change over the course of the next few hundred years.

On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit

Currently my Friday nights consist of staying home and absorbing too much in the way of tv/movies/the internet, or playing the Wii/PSP. I'm open to suggestions.

You should message me if Propose an edit

If anything above piqued your interest, or if you think we might have something in common. If you enjoy politics or world events, I'm always up for a good discussion.
