My self-summary
I love the PNW lifestyle, culture, weather and especially the mountains. My two kids are the most important part of my life. They are 6 and 8, we spend a lot of time outside looking at the world. They both are fairly proficient skiers, we will spend a lot of time at Mt Hood Meadows this winter and spring.
I have a job working with people to get their lives back on track, service is really important and a big part of who I am.
I have lived in TN, NC, FL and MN as an adult, I like those places and have friends there, but 13 years in OR has shown me there may be no better place to be.
I love my bikes, hiking, road trips, local beers and restaurants. I love most good music and going to see live bands.
I am a laid back guy who cannot be serious, I will joke about anything and love to hear the same. I am looking to hang out with someone who can always find the lighter side and appreciate what the world presents.
What I’m doing with my life
Living it as it comes to me. I have two great kids who I am actively parenting. I have a job I love. I am looking to buy a new house. I am planning a bike trip with a bro and a vacation for 19 this summer.
I’m really good at
Taking pictures of myself and posting them
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books- A Confederacy of Dunces is my favorite book, Cormac McCarthy, John Irving, Vonnegut, Edward Abbey, Steinbeck (East of Eden esp) history or historical fiction, southern writers. Recently enjoyed Sisters Brothers and A Land More Kind Than Home. Currently reading One Man's Wilderness
Movies- Easy Rider, Pulp Fiction, Bottle Rocket, Life Aquatic, Dancing Outlaw, Coen Brothers
Music -Minutemen, Bad Brains, Built to Spill, Neil Young, Ben Harper, Meat Puppets, Ralph Stanley, Wilco, My Morning Jacket, JJ Cale, rock, bluegrass, punk, alt country, old country, some rap. I like music where the musicians are really getting at it. I hated country and bluegrass growing up in TN, later I realized those boys were often tearing it up. Bill Monroe is as hardcore as Ian Mackaye.
Food- stuff I don't make myself
The six things I could never do without
My kids
Bikes
Music
Mountains
Summer, winter- fall and spring are not that exciting, wet and cold
Fires
Maybe not in that order
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My new touring bike, I haven't bought it yet. It will be a steel lugged frame, not red.
On a typical Friday night I am
At home. Friday is "Pizza and Movie Night!". I usually don't like the movie my kids pick or the plain cheese and pepperoni pizza but I love the night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I get terrible songs stuck in my head and I sing them until someone else gets it stuck in their head
