My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Not going to try to start off with the written version of a pickup line. I'm creative, have a dark sense of art and humor but have a warm streak as well. I like to have a great nonsensical, meaningless time but am also a sucker for those long, deep evenings where we drink wine and talk about Something Big. I'm told I'm witty and charming--but everyone tells their friends that (and yes, I will dangle clauses in the cause of crafting a punchy sentence). What other advertisements for myself? My friend next to me suggests I write I am "eternally curious", "creative", "dresses well", love to travel (again, who who doesn't?)--damn, didn't realize I was so miraculous until just now--but based on the above, I'd date me so hopefully you might too.

I'd like to meet someone brilliant, adventurous, unique, imaginative, warm, sexual, interested in art, a woman who likes staying in and going out in equal measure. Someone who surprises me every now and then. I don't know what us nonbelievers are supposed to call a soul nowadays but whatever that is in secular terms, I'd like to have some deep connection with you on that level. If you're passionate--ah... there's really no way to talk about this sincerely without sounding like everyone else because most of us want the same fundamental things, no matter how different we are--we want to find someone who feels right for us--whether it's for a night, a year, or a life.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
For money, writing, photographing about and cataloguing art and media, with some interior design for good measure. For passion, making movies.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Bragging. Making things look good, no matter the medium. Saying spectacularly inappropriate things at just the right time. Being there in a pinch. Last minute misadventures, any time, any place. Listening. Talking. Can do a surprising amount of push-ups upon request.
The first things people usually notice about me

All Art, modern and otherwise from Giotto to Cindy Sherman. Tropic of Cancer, F Scott Fitzgerald, William S Burroughs, history books, political science, actual science (to the puny extent I can understand string theory), Tom Waits, Plastic Ono Band, On the Road, Musso and Frank's Grill, Toni's on the Pier, Creative Mythology, Vertigo, Notorious, Fellini, Bergman, His Girl Friday, Mad Men, Sherlock, Eric the Actor, The Godfather, Scenes from a Marriage, anything with an insane and/or British sense of humor, the Veggie Grill, Chilli Addiction, trashy Ian Fleming books, The I40 between Northeastern Arizona and Northwestern New Mexico, OHMSS, Citizen Kane, Rachel Maddow, Royal Tennenbaums, Moonrise Kingdom, Adaptation, Dorothy Parker, Christmas lights, midcentury modern design, atheistic Eastern pseudophilosophy, Pad See Yew, Singapore Leaf, Lagavulin scotch, a good suit, The Third Man. The music I love is too loopy to share.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A ragtop
Reading glasses
I think this is the point where I say "a child's tears" or a warm puppy or world peace--but I do without those things all the time.
The occasional transcendent experience (art, a drive through the desert),
Love,
Humor
Friends
Refuge from humidity
Dating sites, apparently
Having the freedom to list more than six things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
... sex, love, art, people's fascination with God, the future of the world, what to do next, what to eat next, what I did last, politics, filmmaking logistics (i.e. what camera to get next), friends, how to come off well on dating web sites.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Staying in. Or going out--and if going out it's to see friends--or a play--or a bar--or a walk-run, or a galerie or a party or directing rehearsals, or... all the things almost all of us do on a non-school night. You usually won't find me at a club but aside from that it's all fair game.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I shot Liberty Valance.

Oh, and my pen name is J.D. Salinger.
