My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I really don't know how to describe myself. So here are some things that other people have said:

"You don’t interrupt. You’re not rude or crass. You don’t only talk about yourself. You don’t have weird tics or fidgets.
You’re not creepy or annoying. You have good teeth. You dress well." -- Female Friend from work

"You're cuter and younger looking in person." -- Female Friend I met through Social Media (She also called me a "smart dresser.")

"I like James. He's cool and pretty." -- a friend's 6 year old daughter.

"James was always one of the nicest most genuine guys I've encountered in my stint here on this green earth.
I think he functions quite well." -- Friend who was cheering me up after I commented that I'm "malfunctioning"

"You never struck me as the kind of guy who needed anyone to complete him. You're pretty awesome as you are ! You say it but you need to realize that it's the truth!
I've envied your musical prowess and your ability to talk freely with others. You put yourself out there and I was never comfortable doing that, introvert that I am." -- Same friend as the last quote

"Thank you for being one of the good people on here. It was a pleasure and very refreshing." -- Woman on another dating site who found someone else before we were able to go out.

"I hope you meet someone who is as smart, cool and cute as you are. You seem like a gem." -- Another woman on a dating site who found someone before we were able to go out.

"You're well put-together." -- Woman at 7 Horse Pub

"You're such a good guy all the time and then -- whoosh -- the bad boy comes out!" -- Coworker

"I have a better question. Why the hell is a nice, thoughtful young man like you still single? Women had better wise up!" -- Female Friend of a Friend

"I think this is the most fun conversation I've had in a very long time so I'd love to go on a date with you." -- A woman from a dating site

"You're the nicest guy that I've met online." -- A not-so-recent date

"You're a good communicator. Seriously, most guys can't talk about what they're feeling. You do." -- Female friend from work

"Wow! You smell REALLY good!" -- awkward woman in an elevator who was with her husband.

"That lady in the elevator was right! You do smell good!" -- A not-so-recent date who had read my whole profile.

"Great teeth." -- Dental hygienist

"You're so sexy." -- A not-so-recent date

"If you only date one man this year, date James" -- Movie critic who may or may not exist

I'm rated 8.5 (out of 10) on LuLu.

The critics are raving.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to find out who I am. Seriously. I used to party a lot -- staying out late listening to loud bands, drinking. Lately, I've preferred more quiet environments. I've gotten back into reading after a long hiatus.

Staring at stars when I should be keeping my eyes on the road (this may or may not be metaphoric). Over-thinking unimportant things. Trying to write songs. Forgetting peoples' names.

I gave up my job as a selfie photographer because I only had one client.

I just started a new job with the state. So far, so good.

My credit score is pretty phenomenal. I bet you are swooning.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
not knowing what I'm good at.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
are that I'm playing a guitar and wearing a hat.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Anything by Neil Gaiman. Brandon Sanderson. Beach reads. Classics.

Movies: I recommend to everyone: Masters of the Universe -- an awesomely awful 80s film in which He-Man, played brilliantly by Dolph Lundgren of all people, ends up on Earth where he gets to fight Skeletor's minions in a music store. Courtney Cox is in it. It didn't win any awards.

**deal breaker if you talk during movies.

Music: Folky-Indie Rock. Americana. Some classic Rock. 80's music. Alt Rock. Alt Country. Singer/songwriters. Local musicians. Acoustic guitars. Open Mics!

**when you listen to music, do you really listen? If you say, "let's listen to music," do you turn on some music and then proceed to talk about a billion different things that have nothing to do with the music? I'm someone who really listens and might want to talk about what they hear. PS -- when people are talking to me and there is music playing, I pretty much don't hear the person talking. If you find that to be an endearing quality, we're a match made in heaven. If you find that to be annoying, you're gonna hate me!

Food: Italian. Americana. Nachos. Breakfast. Cheese. Olives.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
where in the world Carmen Sandiego is.

If you say you always give 110%, you are not allowed to pour the drinks because you're only going to make a mess.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
probably checking out a local band or reading a book in a quite coffee shop.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
depends on the amount of drinks you buy me... Ha!

you find high credit scores to be sexy... Or if you like a dry sense of humor.

More importantly, you should write me if you understand introverts. I like a lot of time to myself (time free from texts, free from socialization, free from loud or intense environments/sensations). I'm a lonely loner. On the one hand, I want to meet someone to spend some time with, but I also need lots of space and time to myself. To break it down into more concrete terms, I'm looking for someone who I can get together with two to three times a month. I'd like to meet someone who wants to go to the movies, go on road trips, take vacations, play mini golf, see bands, and maybe take walks or hikes once in a while. Of course, I'm open to other things, as well. But, I'm not currently looking for someone to eventually marry or move in with. I don't know if I'll ever be looking for that. Maybe the right person will come along and I'll change my mind -- the future isn't set in stone. But, for the present, I want to keep things more casual. (PS -- this doesn't mean that I'm looking for hook ups. If hooking up is on one end of the spectrum and getting married is on the other end, I'm looking for something in the middle of that.) Is there such a thing as long-term casual dating? That's what I'm looking for.
