I am shy, nerdy, and sweet

I'm done with my master's degree and I'm trying to find my place in the world. That might mean more education in the future, or getting in somewhere where I can advance. I'm kind of obsessed with careers at the moment because it's been so hard to find one in my field (government); this is the only recession where the public sector has actually lost jobs instead of gaining.
I like economics but I don't always believe in the results. I'm trying to learn how to use statistics, even though I'm god-awful at math. I want to find a job somewhere where I can seek the truth, and I'm not sure if that means academic, public, or private sector.

That is a whole lot of really boring words, I apologize. Once I settle down in my career I want to find someone else who loves life and learning that I can share my life with :)

Speed reading, soaking up information, remembering trivia.

Acting like I'm good at video games even though I have terrible reflexes and will therefore always be terrible.

Probably that I smile a lot, but don't say much. I'm trying to work on that though! I was once much more shy and anti-social than I am today.

Tolkien will always be very close to my heart. I started reading him in third grade and I re-read Lord of the Rings almost every year. Also love Wheel of Time, A Song of Ice and Fire, Ender's Game, Sandman. I read a lot of pop economics/statistics/politics books; favorites are Nassim Taleb, Nate Silver, Ha-Joon Chang, Jared Diamond, Paul Krugman, Karen Armstrong, and Larry Gonick.

While I've been job searching I had a lot of time to read the books I've always wanted to read, so now I can put some new items on my favorites: Anna Karenina, War and Peace, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and Master of the Senate.

I think most movies in theaters are seriously overpriced, but I always like a good fantasy or superhero epic, like the LotR movies. I like watching classic or 'serious' movies more than new stuff, except for fantasy movies that I have a crush on. Favorites: Rashomon, Apocalypse Now, There Will Be Blood, Anna Karenina.

I love music from the 60s, especially Bob Dylan (I have almost every album), Joni Mitchell, Rolling Stones, and CSNY. More modern stuff I like: Sufjan Stevens, Stars, Broken Social Scene, Postal Service, Arcade Fire, Garbage, Imogen Heap.
Other favorite things: Starcraft II, Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, Homestuck, Something Awful.
