I'm a gentle, affectionate person who values emotional and intellectual intimacy. I believe a great lover should also be a best friend.

I have a huge passion for philosophy and for creative writing. The way to my heart (ok, one way) is through my mind. I love to have the deepest conversations - real late night, secret revealing, ethics challenging, worldview shaking conversations.

I am a male feminist, a Keynesian, a believer in alternative views of beauty, a Pragmatist (in the philosophical sense), and a LGBT ally.

Politics is both my life and my career (so far, anyway). I was part of the Obama campaign. I'm also a loud and proud Atheist. I'm a huge fan of Dawkins, Hitchens, Dennet, et al, and I've even attempted to write my own book on the whole New Atheism perspective.

Planning for the future is very important for me. I have strong values about what I want from life. I'm not the kind of person that just has a "go with the flow" attitude about the future.

I'm a romantic, but I dislike traditional chivalry. I'm very emotional and extremely analytic. I'm a freethinker, but I live somewhat conventionally. I like making serious plans, but around my friends I also like dumb jokes and occasionally acting silly. I'm a nerdy metalhead, I'm an introvert who works with the public, and I'm open-minded and opinionated.

What I have to offer:

I'm a very sensitive person who can be emotionally supportive. I'm an intellectual who constantly finds new ways to look at things and new ideas, so I hope I can be an intellectual inspiration. I'm extremely health and money conscious, so I live my life with planning and responsibility. I'm also very honest, and I don't have a fragile ego. I'm the kind of person who it's easy to relax around.

What I want:

I want someone's who's smart, creative, responsible, loving, and affectionate.

Going back to school! Getting my MA in political science.

Writing, chess, thinking, talking with people, helping others with their problems. I'm a great explainer and I'm also great at coming with with and endless supply of corny jokes.

The fact that I'm always eager to turn a boring episode of small talk into a deep, thought provoking discussion. I really dislike small talk, so talking with me tends to either feel refreshing or difficult, depending on your perspective.

Some things I could not do without (oxygen, water, gravity, ect) because I would die without them.

But there are no things that I could "never do without" otherwise. Sure, there are some things that I would very much miss, but as long as the absence wasn't physically lethal, I'm sure I'd be able make do.

A better question is "name the six non-essential luxuries you would miss the most if you could never have them again." Here is the answer to that, roughly in order of importance from most to least.

1. Hugs/Affection from someone I love
2. Warmth from Blankets, PJs, sweaters, ect (I get cold easy, being cold all the time would suck)
3. Good food
4. The ability to express creativity
5. Experiencing the art of others (film, TV, books, video games)
6. Awareness of the outside world

Politics, the meaning of life, chess, creative writing, philosophy, psychology, history, gender roles. I spend a lot of time thinking in general. Some people say that's a curse, and I can see their point because sometimes I think so much its hard to sleep. But I enjoy it on some level because the more I think the more I understand the world.
