I've been told I'm a good looking guy with a boy-next-door charm who is smart, hard working, honest and caring (yet also cynical enough to shake my head as I write that). I've been described by a close married female friend as down to earth with an unquestioning desire to be helpful. She tells me that I would make a perfect companion for someone (if it ever comes to that). Actually she is a big reason why I'm gave internet dating a try. Or to put it another way - she wore me down. But that is what friends are for. My hope is that I might meet someone on this site who would complement me.

for fun:
My ideas of fun vary. One kind is a poker game with my friends or talking smack with them about a football game. Another kind is a long peaceful walk on an empty beach. Laughing, smiling and just being content with the moment are nice for me.

my religion:
One parent was a Prespiterian and the other a Methodist. Being former flower children they choose to let me decide my faith as I grew older. As of now I have faith in the love of my parents and that a real answer to this question is still beyond me.

my education:
I was a professional student for a while. I have an MBA and and MPA. First I went down South for a while seeking a Political Science degree in International Politics but came back to NY and continued to take other classes.

favorite hot spots:
My favorite vacation spot is Cape Hatteras, NC as it is all about relaxing. Related to vacationing I've always wanted to go on a cruise. Locally I like to goto get sushi, pubs, Saratoga Lake, hikes in the woods or pizza dinners at my parents.

favorite things:
It is odd but my favorite thing is my job. Still it is a job and has its moments. A random list of other favorites includes sleeping in late, the Pittsburgh Steelers, my blackberry addiction, Newcastle beer, campfires and unexpected complements.

last read:
The last book I read not that good. It was a one of those mindless trash novels at the beach. Otherwose I read the Afghan Campaign. I long for times when I can catch up on my leisure reading. Otherwise I tend to just catch up with internet news.

my pets:
I grew up with pets and have considered getting one for myself several times. For a while I was taking care of my parents cat and discovered my condo is a tough fit for a cat. My other thought was an English Bulldog. Maybe one day.

I am nice, intelligent, and respectful

My job is the Section Head over Criminal Justice for the State. It is job with real time commitments but has interesting challenges that impact public policy.

I assume that they are not talking about the obvious such as air, water, and Sunday football. So in no particulary order:
- the internet (which I say includes my blackberry)
- friends with whom I can be myself
- warmth and summer
- strip clubs (OK - how about I trade this one for bizzare outlandish goofball humor)
- good, nonmainstream entertainment
- I thought about putting sex but then again this section is about things I can never do without and I guess I've proven that is not the case. So instead I will put being able to smile and shake my head at the ridiculous.
