What I’m doing with my life

Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. MG poses an interesting question: Why do some people succeed, living remarkably productive and impactfull lives, while so many more never reach their potential? Challenging the popular belief of the "self-made man" as the more common path to success, MG makes the assertion that superstars don't arise out of nowhere, they are invariably the beneficiaries of hidden advantages and extraordinary opportunities that allow them to achieve things that others can't. I agree, but if you tap into your own pool of advantages, explore and work hard on your skills, I believe you'll become your own superstar.

Tunes I enjoy -> Energetic, Playful, Bittersweet, Joyous, Brash, Reflective, Melancholic, Provocative, Confident, Sensual, Detached, Stylish, Angst-ridden, Outrageous...

...and more: Jonsi, Sigur Rós, The Shins, The Strokes, Yeasayer, Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead, Snow Patrol, Blonde Redhead, Kings of Leon, Broken Social Scene, Death Cab fo Cutie, The Black Keys, Wilco, Nouvelle Vague, Cat Power, Sia, Johnny Cash, Mumford & Sons, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Siouxie and the Banshees, Joy Division, The Smiths, New Order, Bauhaus, Cure, Interpol, Placebo, Jane's Addiction, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Stimulating conversations, humor, laughter, a friendly competition, thought provoking questions, creativity - design, art, tech, problem solving (intuition meets analytical). I enjoy music (live especially), adventure, outdoors, sports (snowboarding, cycling, running, scuba-diving, volleyball), and would love to explore more of the extreme ones. I like pushing boundaries - where it applies.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
“The unexamined life is not worth living” (Socrates)
& “I think therefore I am” (René Descartes).

On the heels of believing in himself, Descartes asked, What am I? His answer: a thinking thing (res cogitans) as opposed to a physical thing extended in three-dimensional space (res extensa).
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Having fun with friends - enjoying fine wine, delicious food, inspiring music, stimulating conversation(s), or plotting my next move.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Not so private: I try to sit back and observe others in order to understand what motivates them. I tend not to come to a conclusion without looking at an issue through someone else's eyes. I like dry sense of humor, and get along the best with those who can be both serious and humorous. Small children make me smile, especially when they are naughty!

Perhaps little private: I am looking for.... "je ne sais quoi," in a person that is hard to describe, but you know when you see it.
