My self-summary
Not really taking this seriously right now; I've got a lot up in the air and I'm in the middle of a third-life crisis.

Back in the day, OKC used to ask you for three adjectives about yourself. I remember the first two I had were "intense," and "cute." For the life of me, I can't remember the third. But I'm sure it was good! Let's go with "confident" for now because I'm told that a lot (um, thanks, Mom?).

Brooklyning, but dreaming of spontaneous weekend car trips to other places.

I'm equally good at planning and going with the flow. I like going out and doing things, but I also can make doing nothing fun, too.

I'm really very liberal... Republicans need not apply. Unless you want to debate.

It probably doesn't come across in a profile, but I was once asked on a first date, "Jason, where's your edge?" I think my answer was convincing.

I'm not sure what I'm looking for but I think it's true that you're most likely to find it when you're not really looking.
What I’m doing with my life
I have my own organizational development consulting business. It drives me nuts sometimes but it's probably the best job I've ever had and I'm good at it!

A lot of volunteer work -- making grants to people in need in the City.

Various Zog sports and spending a lot of time in the gym.

Drinking great beer and whiskey while monopolizing the bar's jukebox.

Finding the best food I can, particularly food stuffed with other food.

Picking up random hobbies -- the last one was darts but I haven't found anything new in a while.

Getting lost in Brooklyn, listening to Guided By Voices on my earphones.

Reading, reading, reading... I almost always have at least one book on me.
I’m really good at
Being better looking than my pictures (so I'm told over and over), but apparently not self-photography!

Trivia -- in and out of context.

I'm pretty good at a lot of things (music, sports, writing), but not REALLY good at them.

For the record, I can't dance. At all. I'm up for learning, though. But good luck with that.

And I'm really good TV company.
The first things people usually notice about me
A shockingly full head of hair... nice thing to have in my mid-30s.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love food -- cheap, expensive, down and dirty, fancy... I'll eat pretty much anything. But I happen to think that Chinese dumplings and light beer go very well together. Though really any kind of food and any kind of beer work too.

I read a lot of non-fiction about politics, history, and world issues. I'm a big Steinbeck fan too, and get into fiction every now and then. Lately I'm working my way through a combination of the Dune books and biographies of obscure American Presidents. Yeah, kinda nerdy.

I don't always watch movies, but when I do, I prefer Wes Anderson.

My favorite TV shows include Northern Exposure, The Simpsons (only Seasons 1-8), House, Dexter, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, That 70s Show, Seinfeld, 30 Rock, Scrubs, Malcolm in the Middle, Six Feet Under, West Wing, Sports Night,South Park, Lost, TheLeague, Don't Trust the B* In Apartment 23, Upright Citizens Brigade, Sopranos, Modern Family, Chuck, Shameless, Friday Night Lights, Louie, Rescue Me, Eastbound and Down, Children's Hospital, Arrested Development, Party Down, Suburgatory,.. but there's never been anything better than Breaking Bad.

As for music:

-Alt rock -- Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, My Morning Jacket, Modest Mouse, Black Crowes, Radiohead, Green Day, Heatmiser, Jimmy Eat World, Blink-182, Incubus, Fastball, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Local H, Phish, Queens of the Stone Age, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Tonic, Collective Soul, Our Lady Peace, Band of Horses, Guided By Voices.

-Classic rock/ -- Tom Petty (with or without the Heartbreakers), Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Genesis, Todd Rundgren, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, The Who

I have a soft spot for some softer stuff, like Elliott Smith, Neil Gust, Wilco, Pete Yorn, Jeff Buckley the Barenaked Ladies and Ben Folds.

Trying out St. Vincent a bit when I have time.

Podcasts:

I'm sort of podcasted out for now, but when I'm in, all the NPR standards and a few interesting political ones.
The six things I could never do without
My gym, my bed, my computers, my Blackberry (still!), my music collection, Chapstick (I'm kind of an addict)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where DeKalb Market is going to end up.
On a typical Friday night I am
Damned if I know. My schedule's flexible and sometimes Sunday night or Monday night can be my Friday night... the days are pretty interchangeable.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've got a crush on Max from 2 Broke Girls...
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 20–34
  • Near me
  • For new friends, short-term dating
You should message me if
You feel like it, I guess. I'm ambivalent about dating right now. I'm more here to talk to my friends (yes I have them; I've been on here that long).
