My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I usually have a better time hanging out at the dog park than at a bar.

Very curious by nature and still easily awed and fascinated by things I see daily (like the changes of the seasons). I'm always trying to learn something new, figure out how stuff works, how they came about. I think this appreciation has also made me not be a fan of ironic living. I actually like the things I like and mean what I say.

I tend to think of myself as a builder or a maker; I love carpentry, welding, making stuffed animals, improving my green thumb and am up for learning new crafts or materials.

I can be pretty funny, too (although this comes out more naturally for me in person than through writing). My sense of humor can be pretty irreverent (and occasionally tasteless) but always meant in good fun; think Sarah Silverman and Steve Martin's character from The Jerk having a baby and then throwing it out in a dumpster.

Hoping to meet someone hilarious, kind, creative, goofy, whimsical, outdoorsy, smart, adventurous, all in a nice, pretty package. That's not too much to ask for, is it?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Juggling fixing my house, taking care of Dingo, taking architecture classes and trying to learn as much as I can about sustainability; taking pictures with dogs; trying to come up with a new story, partly by looking at some of the old ones; running some machine shops and helping students; running.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Being sincere. Being goofy. Being far-too forthcoming and honest (which does not necessarily work out to my benefit). Being observant and present. Befriending your pets. Book recommendations. Playing Four Square. Working Lord of the Rings references into conversations (now Game of Thrones, too).

You know, no one has ever remarked about my height before.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: (this could go on for a while but here is a brief list) Moby Duck (not a typo); Catch-22; A Dirty Job; Lamb: the Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal; Crum (by Lee Maynard); Moby Dick; Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close; Everything is Illuminated; The Songs of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones books). Just finished Born to Run, The Age of Miracles, and The Scummers. As a genre, I've really been enjoying narrative non-fiction.

Movies: Blazing Saddles, The Jerk, Rushmore, the Outlaw Josey Wales. While not my favorites, Be Kind, Rewind and Dirt:The Movie are incredibly inspirational to me (the book was good, too. really.)

Music: White Stripes, Beatles, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Pavement, the Who, Buddy Holly.

The good guys
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why my dog who is 1/5 my size feels the need to take up 4/5 of the bed. How I can help the planet, even on a small scale.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Maybe out running with my dog.

Or watching the Notebook.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My spirit animal is Grumpy Cat.

I become a bit suspicious when I read "invisibility" as the choice for the super power question, but it's not a deal breaker.

You think we have a lot in common. I tend to be most drawn to women whom I share a lot of common interests, especially when it comes to making stuff and nature. That being said, I enjoy when someone has passions different than mine that they can introduce me to (and vice versa). Having a similar sense of humor is huge. Seriously, how much stuff is better than laughing?
