My self-summary
I am a
Gamer, a
Service Industry veteran and an avid
NPR nut. My political view are, for the most
part, Progressive, though I am Very Liberal/non-traditional on a
hand full of issues. I spend most of my free time doing one of the
following: reading (novels,
comic books, the occasional other
thing), playing
RPGs
(on
Playstation,
DS or with friends), running an RPG of my own
design (yay!), designing games alone or with friends, watching
movies or TV on DVD (shows by Joss
Whedon,
Futurama,
Weeds,
Jericho, etc.) or occasionally going out
on the town, though my work schedule tends to prevent the seeing of
Concerts on a moments notice.
What I'm doing with my life
I have 2 "low rung" jobs that I LOVE, and don't plan on leaving any
time soon. One is pretty much my Dream Job in many respects,
allowing me to entertain myself for hours at a time and
occasionally do actual work, most of which is absurdly easy
compared to the service industry jobs I've done in the past. The
other is a part time shift at the most recent of said jobs, kept
because I enjoy the employees, (some of) the regulars, the hours
and the occasional perks, but not the money, which is pitiful, but
a nice bonus all the same. The fact that both are in
Athens, GA, one of my
favorite towns ever, and the best place in GA is a decidedly huge
perk, but the fact that their hours often keep me from concerts or
other events I'd like to see does annoy me at times. In my free
time right now: I am currently running a weekly
RPG of my own design with some friends.
I have just recently watched the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel
for the first time, all of it in a row, and was on the whole quite
impressed. I just borrowed a bunch of books from my brother and
will be reading a lot of neat new
sci-fi and
fantasy books in the near future. I am
about to delve into Persona 4 on
PS2 and am playing a couple of games on DS
right now.
I'm really good at
I am a game designer by nature, specifically of
role-playing games or
table-top
miniatures games. Some friends and I
have designed several quite fun table top games and I have designed
many fantasy or science fantasy/space operatic worlds, pretty much
since I can remember. I am a decent but not great Game Master, and
enjoy playing table top RPGs or miniature games, though I don't
really get into MMORPGs, because I like to be around the table with
my fellow gamers. I am also quite good at spouting off nonsense at
a moments notice (agnostic glossolalia?), and am often called upon
by friends to come up with a strange name for something in a game.
I am pretty good at "mondegreening" songs (ala Weird Al), but don't
have much actual musical talent past that and pushing "Play".
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
my hair? it's rather long and my goatee is pointy, often in a
random direction. my smile? it's not perfect by any means, but I
tend to let it make regular and prolonged trips to my face. my
glasses? they are a tad thick, but they let me read/see things far
away, so I don't mind. my oddity? I am certainly not within 10 feet
of normal in most aspects, and don't really try to hide it, though
I am not an exhibitionist of my oddities either. my outlook? many
have commented about my sunnier-than-average disposition or my
courtesy to strangers, but I always say there is enough meanness in
the world already. I guess I don't know, but it's probably not
actually any of those things...

The six things I could never do without
*) Games, of one sort or another *) friends to play games with *) A
Cat somewhere nearby, hopefully an indoor/outdoor cat *) the
Internet (how cool IS this thing!?) *) an endless stream of media
to enjoy, preferably in the form of books, comics, music, movies,
etc. *) someone to share it all with (d'oh!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
games, characters, politics and strange things that just pop into
my head at times.
On a typical Friday night I am
At work from early till late night, so after work I tend to stay up
until Saturday morning hanging with friends, playing games or
watching TV on DVD. My day off is Sunday, which is either spent
with a passel of friends or out of town, and my regular "night out
on the town" nights if I'm going to have them are Tuesday and
Thursday, though they are usually spent at home anyway.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here
If I'm willing to admit it in public, by definition it's not that
private... Sure there are things some men might not admit to
because of expectations, but I always found that silly. I'm a
straight man who like Musicals? yeah, so what? I hate sports and
sports mania? that's no secret.
You should message me if
you want to talk. you want to meet locally (or possibly farther
away after talking a while) you think I am interesting. you are one
of the people I mentioned as loving the works of in my favorites
section. I am an avid but not scary fan.
