My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I just move to Baltimore from the Boston area in May. I've been in grad school for the last four years so I'm trying to re-learn how to enjoy down time!

I love to read, spend time with friends, and check out live music. I'm typically described as intense, funny, loyal, and genuine. I'm looking for someone with whom I can trade sarcastic banter, be unashamedly nerdy, and explore the city.

*Please note: I'll be out of town for work from 8/3 - 8/10. Would love to do stuff after this, though :) *
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work for Hopkins helping to manage summer academic programs for gifted kids.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Reading and walking at the same time. I rarely bump into things! Also, Scrabble.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Lolita, A Confederacy of Dunces, Invisible Man, and pretty much anything by David Foster Wallace, Gene Wolfe, or Neil Gaiman. If comics count (of course they do): Calvin and Hobbes. Recent reads: Station Eleven, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, The Martian. Currently: Go Set a Watchman.

Anything by Wes Anderson and Joss Whedon! Labyrinth. A Goofy Movie. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. So, the classics. Recently: Trainwreck, Inside Out, Jurassic World, and Dope.

Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny, Community, and Firefly. I'll shamelessly admit to loving New Girl, because Schmidt, and for all its over-the-top teen angst, I'll always love Veronica Mars. PS: yes, I've seen the Wire, and yes, I want to talk about it.

I mostly like jazz, but I really enjoy 80's and 90's kitschy rock and hip-hop. I'm currently on a bluegrass kick, so if you like Chris Thile or Crooked Still, let's talk about how awesome they are.

Thai food. Any time, any day. Good IPAs, scotch, bourbon, or (mostly red) wine. I'm currently learning the many wonderful local beers and will gladly accept brew-tour recommendations.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Pedagogy and curriculum development for gifted learners, jazz history and theory, international security and political science, what to read next, whatever I'm currently reading, college football, how the hell OKC's algorithm's for predicting personality could be so wrong
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
In the summer, I like to sit out on the porch with a novel and a drink until the sun sets or the mosquitoes get too feisty to handle. But sometimes my friends will drag me out and I'll go be sociable.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Nope. Instead, I offer you fun facts:

I lived overseas for 6 years in middle/high school.

"Roll tide" is part of my normal, everyday parlance. This is nonnegotiable.

Charlie Kelly from It's Always Sunny is my spirit animal.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're interested in having adventures,
You have a good sense of humor and don't take yourself too seriously;
You like banter and sarcasm (and can handle snark), but are genuine at heart;
You're passionate about whatever it is you do, and appreciate that in a partner;
You want to share something awesome about the city with a newbie;
or you want to talk about any of the things listed above (especially books)!

This is an interactive site, after all!
