ME? I'm unconventional, open-minded, liberal, bright, articulate, sex-positive, honest, flexible, and outgoing. I live in community (cohousing), was raised in New England by Jewish parents, and am active in the Oakland Unitarian-Universalist church and in the Bay Area HAI community. I have one daughter and three grandchildren. I'm not dependent on any substances (unless you count dark chocolate), not into sports, and not homophobic. I value intimacy (deep connection, real conversation and truth- telling)

You enjoy the simple things in life and get pleasure out of sharing time and daily activities with your sweetheart. I don't care what kind of car you drive, whether you have a lot of money or hair, or what color that hair is. You treat yourself (body, mind and spirit), other people and the planet with respect.

You would enjoy talking with me about spirituality: what is it for you, and where, if at all, religion overlaps with it. You have a beloved dog, have loved a dog at some time in your life, and/or are confident that you'll love my little guy, an unbelievably cute 8-pound poodle. You are comfortable talking honestly about sexuality (yours, mine or ours). Extra credit if you already know, or are open to learning, what a Hitachi Magic Wand is good for. Family, biological or chosen, is very important to you.

If you are passionate about your work, are inclined to be concerned about the environment, care deeply about working toward social and economic justice, and are awake and aware, so much the better.

A note in the service of truth telling: my stated age is a lower number than my actual age. I stated that age because I didn't want you to miss the chance to meet me simply because your search criteria may have excluded me. Most people think I am a decade or two younger than I am because I love life and am full of energy and curiosity.

Magazines and Newsletters: The Sun, The UU World, Extra! (from Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting), The Washington Spectator, Intelligence Report (from SPLC), Funny Times. And I follow several blogs and e-newsletters. Music: Baroque and Classical, especially chamber music, and any great choral masterworks I've had the privilege of singing. Folk and "world" music. Food: I love the food of all ethnic groups including my own.

Friends, enthusiasm, the love of my progeny, sunshine, chocolate and hope for the planet.

How sad it is that so many people on this earth are homeless, physically and mentally ill, hungry, poverty-stricken, emotionally dead and living in fear of violence.....and how little I as an individual can do about it.

There's no "typical," except for the first Friday evening of the month when I am usually playing recorder (which I taught myself when I was in jr. high school) at the monthly meetings of the East Bay Recorder Society, awash in the beauty of the music we are making together.

The most private thing I'm willing make a little more public is that my vibrator is one of my best friends
