My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Oh let's see here: I have my SCUBA license, I've skydived, I've hiked in the Californian redwoods, I grew up in southern Tanzania, I don't get hangovers, I'm O+, I get sick from vitamins, my eyes change color, I prefer soda room temperature, I'm an atheist from an evangelical family, and I like to think of myself as a frood who knows where my towel is.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I move a lot. I've lived several different places abroad and several different places in the States.
Right now I'm brand spanking new to Lexington (though not KY). I teach ESL to immigrants with Bluegrass Community, and am working on a Master's degrees (online, not at UK).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Teaching ESL, singing, being jolly while sleep deprived, laughing at not-funny-at-all jokes and moderating debates.
I'm getting better at ignoring trolls, keeping my opinions to myself and growing house plants.
I'm not good at containing utter glee when presented with kittens or puppies.
The first things people usually notice about me

I'm probably overdressed. Unless, of course, I'm somewhere fancy- then I'm probably too casual.
Go figure.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I love dystopian literature. Orwell, Huxley, Bradbury; love 'em all. I also enjoy reading Hawking, because it's sheer brilliance in layman's terms. - Anyone who doesn't enjoy Vonnegut isn't worth my time.

I'm a sucker for musicals and Disney films. And, yes, I'll admit it, I love a good zombie flick. If you didn't like Puss In Boots you can go to hell. I'll probably make at least one Mel Brooks reference a day. I pretty much enjoy anything Wes Anderson, Hayao Miyazaki or Guy Ritchie direct.

Sometimes I'll binge watch shows like Futurama, South Park, Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones and Cosmos. (Viva la Bay!) But as for regularly watching TV, meh. I prefer movies. PS, I love Attenborough documentaries.

I'm a hair-band groupie and love the Indi-folk scene. But fo realz, I like just about anything except screamo and gangster rap.

I fucking love food. My only hesitation is water-based foods (fish, crabs, seaweeds) and stupid-hot spicy. I've eaten pig feet and roasted rat: I'm willing to try things.

My role models include Sagan, deGrasse-Tyson, Curie, Cox, Nye, Feynman, Hawking, Dawkins and anyone else in the League of Scientists. And yes, Sagan is still the president of the League, even post-death: he's that phenomenal. (I really enjoyed NdGT's spin on Cosmos!)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A companion/friend I can ramble to/with.
Something in my hands to keep my fingers occupied.
Being informed / in the loop.
Freedom to come and go as I please.
Enough time to explain myself, since I like to be detailed and articulate.
Something new to learn, especially regarding culture or science.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Evolution, both micro and macro. Civil rights: including women's, reproductive, LGBTQ and immigrant. Sex and its effect on brain function. (Though, usually it's just the sex part.) Self sustainable homeless shelters and homeless education projects. Mental illness and its role in human evolution. Political self-interest and how short-sighted it it. Feminism: gender normalties, stereotypes, bias and the like. Budgets. What "fair" actually means.

I like to think and spend a lot of time doing so.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Watching TED Talks or cute animals (filmed with a wide angle lens) on YouTube. I like going to pubs or karaoke bars, but I wouldn't call that a "typical" Friday event. I enjoy staying in reading, or going out for a late coffee.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am Spartacus

You're a feminist who loves LGBTQs. Or a scientist who loves disussing hypothetical situations. Or a drinker who doesn't like sports bars unless they're playing fútball. Or a nice person who isn't rude to beggars. Or a world traveler looking to sit on the grass and tell sad stories of the death of kings.
