I am unusual, often charming, and sane...ish.

My Self-Summary

I'm...complicated. I keep my computers close and try to keep my friends happy. I've studied jewellry, martial arts, music, computer science, technical theatre, Russian, French, theatre, linguistics, and fencing. I'm not easily categorized, and most people are surprised to find out my age after they've met me. (Clearly, you won't have this problem.) I love meeting new people and I'm not afraid to talk to strangers. I'm open, friendly, sarcastic, pagan, flirtatious, and very very good at cuddling. Anything else, you'll have to summarize for yourself.

My SO, Andrew, and I consider our relationship polyamorous, though there's still a lot of new ground for us both and we have had some notable failures, but no notable success. I'm always up for messaging, and new friends, though. Ladies, if you want to look him up, his profile was really well done last I checked, and he's BaronReldon.

Last but not least, for the purposes of defeating quickmatch's annoying tendency not to show the username of the person you're judging on a brief summary, find me here under Jazz007.

What I’m doing with my life

I have a BA in Linguistics from The University of Texas at Austin, and Andrew and I plan to stay here for the immediate future. I manage the office at a "luxury" (this is not to say pretentious, just in case my associates find this!) jewelry store in The Domain here in Austin, and spend my days arranging the affairs of various pieces of sparkly.

I love fencing (one night a week if I'm lucky, and many weekends), and I'm struggling to keep on a physically demanding regimen. For the most part, I'm an administrator in the fencing world as well. I had started to feel like I was getting fat, stupid, and lazy, and didn't care much for it, so I'm working to avoid that. Last but not least, I play APA 8-ball pool on Tuesday nights with my buddies on a team, Out of Stroke, and I try very hard not to suck. At pool. O>:-D

I’m really good at

See, the thing I hate about this section? I generally hold myself to be adequate at nearly everything, but really good at very little. All the same, I hate to leave blanks. Without further ado, then.

Being a smartass. Cynicism. Languages. Cleaning. Working. Sarcasm. Communication (when I have the balls to do it). Hugs and cuddles and playing with guys' hair. Blowjobs, or so I've been told. Acting the hardass. Actually being the hardass. I don't know, come meet me and find out.

The first things people usually notice about me

I like to think it's my presence, confidence, bearing, class, but that'd be deluding myself - it's probably my hair, since my braid goes to my waist.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I find it difficult to define my "favorite" books. There are a lot of them. Book series that I recommend are the Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind, the Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold, the Heralds of Valdemar by Mercedes Lackey, and the Belgariad and the Mallorean by David and Leigh Eddings. I read modern and historical romance novels, mainly Nora Roberts and Georgette Heyer, and nautical fiction, specifically Hornblower and Bolitho. Finally, I will admit to being a bit of a Harry Potter fangirl. There, I said it.

I like TV and films that have quotable scripts. James Bond (I am a Bond girl, and can even sell you the James Bond Omega Seamaster watch). Shrek and Shrek 2. The Princess Bride. TV Series Firefly. Serenity. Hitch. Robin Hood: Men In Tights. Blazing Saddles. In fact, anything I've ever seen by/with/in the vicinity of Mel Brooks.

My primary requirement to enjoy a book or movie to the fullest is that it permit me escapism and result in a happy ending. I will not think deeply about any implied social commentary unless forced to by the ensuing discussion of the film, at which point I will think about it. During, it'd better be happy escapism time or bust.

I listen to almost any kind of music, with a notable skew in my "most played" list towards country. I also listen to filk, folk, and miscellaneous new age and pop stuff.

Food. Preferably edible? I like Chinese and Italian, and I can eat almost anywhere if only the cook will be flexible enough, because I am invariably very picky. I don't do pepper-like spicy (in my food), but I adore traditional greek and italian spices.

The six things I could never do without

computers complete with 'net access (yes I am a geek)

my knives (ooh sharp shiny tools)

love/hugs/cuddles/physical contact (all at once if I can get it)

caffeine (IV, anyone?)

music (must...have...distraction)

rant space (because we're all pissed off about something, admit it)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Stuff. Men. Life. Friends. Computers. Random crap. Plans for the day/weekend/near and/or distant future. Linguistic puzzles. French and Russian languages.

You know, here's a better idea. Message me at some pseudorandom time, just whenever you see me online, and ask me what I'm thinking about. I'll most likely tell you.

On a typical Friday night I am

...on my way to a fencing tournament, or killing time with friends. Rarely do my Friday night plans take shape before Friday afternoon :)

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

...that I'm not a very private person. Just ask, and I'll most likely answer you. It may not be a helpful or even particularly informative answer, but it will almost certainly be an answer.

Oh. And I am the *pickiest* eater on the face of the planet and I may very well starve when the Zombie apocalypse comes.

You should message me if

...you're not worried about me corrupting your immortal soul. AIM/Yahoo! IM at JazzmineCS, LJ at Jazz007, or use the email variant available, but please do not hit the little button labeled "click to IM" somewhere on your screen, as I hate the chat interface on this and have discovered in myself a distressing tendency to ignore it completely.
Additionally:

Dear Internets,

I do ask kindly that if you're not willing to use minimally prescriptive grammar and spelling, don't intentionally cause overlap of our respective spheres of influence. I like capitalization, spelling, grammar, and punctuation because I can't hear tone of voice through a text medium, and these add subtext to what would otherwise be a very flat conversation!

XOXO,
Jazz
