My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
It was a dark and stormy night as he sat down to his typewriter. His collar lay unbuttoned, his tie loosened. His hat hung from the hook by the door, over his damp trenchcoat. The neon from the movie house across the alley buzzed, blinking on and off, casting a garrish red color to the room. "How do I talk about myself without coming across as a blowhard?" he thought. Thunder rolled off the mountains, lightning flashed. "This is trying too hard," he commented.

Well, enough of that. I'm Paul, but I also go by Rosie. I graduated UC Santa Barabara two years ago and spent those two years attaining my teaching credential at Cal State Fullerton. I am trained to be a middle or high school History teacher, and yes, that means I am a nerd. It also means I'm funny, entertaining and useful for all your knowledge based needs, ie a good pub quiz partner.

As I'm sure you can tell by now, I have a very dry wit. This is useful, because I enjoy making others laugh and finding the lighter side of life. Life's too short to be unhappy.

I currently work as an on call substitute teacher for two school districts, which is great because it means I have a steady amount of work. I am hoping in the near futre to transition to being a full time History teacher.

In the interest of easing some, if only a small portion of your confusion, I think maybe I ought to lay my cards on the table. Here's what I'm looking for in a relationship. First off, I'm looking for a partner, not a follower. I want someone who has her own opinions and hobbies and ideas. I do want to share them, but I don't want someone who changes everything about themselves for the person they are with. I want somebody who I can go out and get into mischief with or stay in and read with. I love going to showings of old movies, so that may be a hazard of dating me, but I also like someone who can appreciate art for art's sake and that's one way to do it. Also, I think intelligence is one of the most attractive traits a person can have. It doesn't have to be book smarts; I've known and worked with people who've come from all walks of life and some of the most clever went through life without any higher education. I'm looking for someone who not only has a good, dry sense of humor, but is also willing to call me on it when I'm being an idiot. In short, and to sum up, I'm looking for someone not to have as mine, but to be a partner with. Life is a journey, and one wants a companion, not a monkey on the back, so to speak.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I recently finished my graduate school studies and received my teaching credential. I hope to become a High School History teacher, and maybe one day a professor.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am a musician. I started learning my first instrument when I was nine years old, and I have been a singer-songwriter for almost ten years now. I really enjoy music, and Its one of the two great passions in my life. I was in a few bands over the years and I still love to jam with friends and write, even if it is only for myself or close friends.

I also play on an amateur softball team, and enjoy bowling and surfing.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Most people tend to notice two things first about me. First, there's my eyes. They are green or blue, depending on the world around, me. This is entirely natural, and I have no control over it. Consequently, they tend to startle people from time to time, but it makes for interesting conversation.

The other thing people usually notice about me is my sense of humor. I have a very sarcastic sense of humor, something akin to Groucho Marx or Jon Stewart. I try my best to find the humor in the world around me, and make it enjoyable to those around me. What is life without laughter?

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I could never live without:
music
good literature
old movies
close friends
family
baseball.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to get better at teaching, putting a band together again, new recipes, the humor in the situations around me, the beauty of ridiculous things, why we park on drive ways and drive on parkways, how the Dodgers could come back if they just had better catchers and more batting practice...

Who invented liquid soap and why?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out with friends, maybe seeing a concert, or at a jazz bar. Maybe getting in some batting practice. Sometimes, I go out swing dancing. Other times, I'll go bowling or to a pool hall. Lately I've been going to a lot of classic film showings, and you should know up fron that is a habit of mine. But there is always something to be said for a good movie and hanging out with company at home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Despite my interest in baseball, and especially the Dodgers, I really don't care for sports much. I went like, ten years without keeping track of baseball because I didn't like sports...and I sort of regret that decision. I've got deeper secrets, but you'll have to get to know me first...
