My self-summary
It's not hard to see why everyone says the same thing here: "I hate writing about myself" "I don't know what to say" "I am evil, mad scientist and plan to take over the world"... no wait I think I made that last one up.

But anyways, yeah, obligitory ramblings about myself.

I am a nerd (or geek or dork, take you pick). Deal with it. I like a lot of sterotypically nerdy stuff: comics, video games, sci-fi, etc. That said, I can have ordinary conversations about things without telling you how awesome my level 12 barbarian is (that said, he was pretty kick-ass).

I am often quiet and shy when I first get to meet someone. I need to get to know someone and then I'll open up to them. And then I'll open wider and then too wide and as my closest friends know there are times when you can't get me to shut up. They've tried. Sometimes with sharp, pointy objects.
What I’m doing with my life
I do records for a county goverment agency office. If that sounds boring... well you would probably be right. But it's good work, keeps me afloat and busy enough to stay out of trouble but no so busy that I can occasionally work on my wannabe novel, which is due to be ready for publishing in a mere sixty years or so.

I have also acquired a camcorder and video editing software. I have started doing a series video reviews for comic books. They are rather amateurish, but I'm still somewhat proud of them and I have hopes to keep improving.

I’m really good at
I can bake a pretty tasty dessert, or so I've been told.
The first things people usually notice about me
I once was told that I am one of the calmest people they've ever met. I don't know if that's the first thing they noticed about me, probably not, but it's probably one of the more unique descriptors I've heard.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I love to read. Normally I enjoy fantasy, science-fiction, and humor. Some specific examples are Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, Lord of the Rings, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Dresden Files, The Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin. Anything by Terry Pratchett or Robert Heinlein. I also loved Michael Chabon's Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. I'm also a huge comic book nerd, and can talk your ear off about them if you let me. Some faves include almost anything from Alan Moore or Brian K. Vaughan, Sandman, Y the Last Man, The Umbrella Academy, pretty much any Avenger book, Preacher and Runaways.

Movies I'm also a bit of movie geek. And love everything from dumb comedies, cheesy horror, riveting dramas, balls-to-the-walls action and event the occasional thought-provoking documentary. And having Netflix for a while now, my list of great films or films I love (not necessairly always the same thing) has grown considerably. Big ones for me include The Avengers, Royal Tenenbaums, Almost Famous, Moulin Rouge, Batman Begins and Dark Knight, Serenity, Iron Man, Kevin Smith's and Quentin Tarentino's films. The first two X-men and Spider-Man films (what's with the third parts being so disappointing? But X-Men: First Class was a ton of fun!), Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The Ring and the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, Zombieland, (500) Days of Summer, Captain America, Thor.

Music Not reallly music, but my radio is most often set to NPR. More on topic: Jonathan Coulton, The Beatles, Bif Naked, Billy Joel, Flogging Molly, Garbage, Professor Elemental, Barenaked Ladies, Foo Fighters, Bowling For Soup, Weezer, Tori Amos. I'm one of those types that can listen to most anything and not complain.

Food Food wise I'm willing to try anything, but tend to stick with the classics. Pizza, Cheesecake, a good Philly Cheesesteak sandwhich (I'm picky with my Phillies), Mexican. Every once in a while I get a craving for sushi.

Television Right now the big shows for me are Doctor Who, How I Met Your Mother, Leverage, Parks & Rec, Burn Notice, and Community. I recently cancelled cable so I'm behind on some shows, but hey, that's what Netflix is for. For the "Gone but not forgotten" shows I love all of Joss Whedon's shows, especially Firefly, I'm also a fan of MST3k, Veronica Mars, Pushing Up Daisies, Lost, Arrested Development, Titus and Freaks & Geeks.

Video Games I can play a lot of games but I tend to lean towards RPGs and platformers. The Final Fantasy series, Ratchet & Clank, Psychonauts, World of Warcraft, Metal Gear Solid series, and Rock Band are all favorites. I currently own each of the big three console systems.
The six things I could never do without
My computer, my internet connection, my TV, my iPhone, Netflix, friends. These all keep me sane... well, less insane.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The basic truths of the universe:
Pirates will beat out ninjas, unless it's a lone ninja.
I will be a survivor when the zombie apocalypse happens. Sadly, you will most likely not.
Aquaman will someday get the respect he deserves and kick Superman where the yellow sun don't shine. (Ok, I don't think that will ever really happen).

I've been told I think too much. I can't imagine why.
On a typical Friday night I am
It all depends really. I'm not much one for clubs or bars, but I'm willing to go where friends are. That might be playing a video game, editing a video, watching Community or old Doctor Who episodes at a friend's place or just an evening at home watching Netflix.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Lets see, the first thing I do when looking at someone's profile here is scroll down to their choice of books/movies/music/et. I feel vaguely guilty about this as I know that just because someone does or doesn't have the same tastes as mine doesn't mean that we're automatically compatiable or incompatiable, but I do think I'm bit biased against those who think Cosmo is the only thing remotely literary in their lives or those that think "Norbit" is the height of comedy.

To further cement my shallowness, then I look at your photos and only after that do I read the full profile from top to bottom.

I have a weakness for musicals, especially silly comedy musicals. See Reefer Madness: The Musical, Little Shop of Horrors, Rocky Horror, or Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog as examples. (Hmm three of those have some variation of the word horror in them... coincidence or conspiracy? You be the judge!)

Otherwise I'm an open book and if you have a question, ask.
