My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I was born in Boston but my heart belongs to a doctor I met in NYC.

I stand by Mel Brooks' line about being Jew...ish.

I'm always looking for decent Mexican on the upper west side.

I have a bad habit of stopping at every sidewalk seller of books and browsing and buying. I start books and don't finish them (I know, I know). It's like a literary sin. Currently, Moby Dick is a 1/4 read. Ahab will have to wait.

If you know of any, I'm always down to go to a new bookstore.

I think a sense of humor might be the most important thing in the world. Could save the world. Imagine if all the world's dictators had instead decided to be stand up comedians. I bet Mussolini had some great one liners.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm getting my MFA in film right now (writing and directing movies, not studying them). I went in straight out of undergrad, where I also studied film. Right now, I work part-time in a hospital but I'd like to find something more related to my field so if you know Spielberg or JJ Abrams give them a ring for me.

I grew up on a bike in a wooded suburb of Boston, which I'll always miss. We moved to Pittsburgh when I was in middle school, and that place is the best--a Northeastern town with Midwestern people. I went to school upstate in Poughkeepsie, and moved to the city for grad school.

Thinking about what it'd be like if I had a cat. Wishing I had a cat. Dreaming about having a cat. I really want a cat.

I'm still reeling from a major bout of pretension in my teens, but luckily the symptoms seem to have mostly subsided. Or at least I hope so!

Even though I study film, I pinky promise I'm not a film snob.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Modesty. Like crazy good. Maybe the best.

But really maybe relating to people? I can usually find something in anybody I can relate to. It makes small talk and parties more enjoyable. I like making people laugh (and being made to laugh), but I try not to let that get in the way of serious conversations.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My beard is a different color than the rest of my hair. I have my red-haired jewish grandmother to thank for that. Thanks, Olga.

I used to be really picky, but I've been trying to be adventurous now. Recently: Mexican, mussels and oysters, Italian deli sandwhiches.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
PB&J (grape jelly, please and thank you), Woody Allen (comfort food), the MET, friends, a notebook and gl2 pen, yeungling
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Deciding which movie theatre in the city is the best. IFC has the best seats, but Film Forum has the best movies. Decisions, decisions.

The fact that cupcakes are just mini cakes.

UPDATE: Axl Rose is the rose in Guns and Roses! But then who is the gun?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Drinking with friends, editing, writing, seeing movies, on set, seeing friends.
