My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
AS OF AUGUST 2013, I'M SEEING SOMEONE. Thinker/joker, nature lover and late bloomer. Kinda quiet unless your manner draws me out. I love moving to music, but (except for slow dancing) am challenged by partner dance. Hoping to find love again in my kinda busy life. Kinder and gentler with my wit than I used to be, unless the barb is just too fun to pass up.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working, studying, writing, looking around and paying attention, finding ways in which to connect, enjoying nature more. I had no idea I could carry such a heavy pack while hiking.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
explaining the dynamics of a situation -- or am I making it up? Noticing things about people and nature. Empathy. Realizing when old conditioning is getting in my way. Some of my poetry is not bad. Wittiness may erupt.

I don't know, I've never asked them.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

The Whale Rider, Men in Black movies, The Hunted with Tommy Lee Jones. Looper was violent, but the plot twisted and the ending satisfied. Ethnic music, especially from Mali. Crosspulse music, classical and 70's rock. Les Miserables soundtrack (the book -- don't know, it's been a few years). Mexican food without the heat. Greens and veggies steamed or oiled, plus buffalo meat and ketchup is my favorite right now. Books galore.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Walking around and looking. Really good, fun conversations. A close relationship with a man (although I'm without that too much!). Nature, even moments spent in silence, standing next to something big and green. Alone time for studying, reading and at least considering how to simplify my living room. Challenges. Interspecies contact. A mirror--it's true!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
the plot in my sci-fi story. Actually, I should think about it more. Whether my ideas reflect a larger reality. Whether a new line of work will end up stressing me out. Of couse, I wonder if our society will last and if this Earth can outlast the results of human ignorance. My psychology/biological sciences education years ago was a good indicator of latent interests. I love science magazines, the beauty inherent in what is natural, and the balanced artistry that the best of us can create. Inventions enthrall me, and I like to look at tools. Otherwise, the trick is to not think too much.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
at home. I've branched out to poetry readings. A potluck gathering at Guernville featured good music and conversation, and a moving, primitive-sounding vocal performance. A quiet BBQ gathering and good conversation on New Year's Eve was a winner. I go to bargain-matinee sci-fi movies, and enjoy freeform dancing to drumming and other music with a strong ethnic beat. Anytime!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
