My self-summary
I grew up mostly in Ottawa, lived in China (and little bit in Southeast Asia) for over six years and that's shaped who I am a bit. I enjoy speaking other languages and find English to be boring sometimes (trying to learn Spanish currently). Like the outdoors and want to get into more outdoor sports like kayaking-should get on that, I’m in the city to do it. Love riding my bicycle, I bike everywhere, puzzled not everyone rides a bike- it's such a fantastic invention. Hoping to one day take up mountain biking cause that one time got me hooked-can't believe I had been missing out on such a fantastic sport all my life (update: took course, bought a bike, apartment broken into and stolen:(-will put that on the back burner for a few years).

Hmm what else about me.... LOVE food, mostly I love eating it but like baking and starting to try and get into cooking more, still usually need to cook with friends to really enjoy it whereas I enjoy baking on my own and find it therapeutic. Like playing games (if you’ve never tried game Dixit you Must try it). Oh, I admit, I'm rather competitive, it's just much more fun to win.
I’m really good at
Being there for people, planning stuff, conversation and communication (I'm getting much better at this and it makes life and relationships with people, romantic or otherwise, SO much easier!)
The first things people usually notice about me
I've bee told they notice that I'm smiley and have a pretty bubbly personality although I must say I don't like the word bubbly.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Unpolished Gem (my favourite), The Good Women of
China, Where the Sidewalk Ends, LA 流浪记 (maybe I liked it so much cause I was excited I could actually understand it), My Mother is Weird, The Giving Tree, Paper Bag Princess. It may look like I only kids books, I do read novels it's just my favourites tend to still be kids books, they are just so great

Shows: Grey's Anatomy, True Blood (no judging on these two, good shows!), Seinfeld, The Office, Flight of the Concords (sad there's not more episodes) and Parks and Recreation. I am now hooked on an amazing HBO show called GIRLS, you should Definitely watch it, absolutely fantastic with wonderfully awkward sex scenes.

Movies: Snatch, Amélie, Billy Elliot (I think it's my favourite),
Romeo and Juliet, Love Actually, Office Space, Memento, Spaceballs, Orgasm Inc., The Goonies (probably movie I've seen the most, still watch it if it's on), Little Miss Sunshine (makes me feel like my family is not so crazy)
The six things I could never do without
I think I'll have to come back to this one, that's a tough question. Hmm for now I'll have to say good friends and family, good food, human touch, ear plugs, trees and a bicycle.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Future, friends and family, environment, women's issues, China,
gender stereotypes, stuff related to my volunteer work with Opt. Also been especially concerned about potential Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline Project (can check out this video), Oh and my roommie and I have both been spending a lot of time thinking about and discussing what it means to be a hipster. We're surrounded by these fascinating creatures and spend quite some time observing them in their natural habitat- Mount Pleasant, which is where our apartment is located, a block away from Main St- ultimate Hipsterville (update 1 year later: I have since turned into 1/4 hipster...product of my environment, I will not be made to feel ashamed of this).

Also recently have been thinking a lot about why my roommie and I didn't win CBC Q's 6-word Modern Love Story Contest (not even an honourable mention!). Here is our poetry:
Dodge our feuding folks, tweet me.
Seeds spread between our community gardens.
Community garden neighbour, invasive species welcome.
Polyamorous internet date, mocaccino to share.
Polyamorous internet date, nice touque though.
Polyamorous internet date, should have Googlestalked
On a typical Friday night I am
Hmmm that really varies so much. Sometimes out at some cultural event in the city or out to dinner with friends or having friends over for food or just relaxing at home after a long week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Hmm.... Well I haven't owned a brush for over a month (just always forget to buy one when I'm out) so I've been using a dinglehopper. (Update: I have since bought a a brush!)
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 24–36
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
If you're a genuinely good person (I know, they are kind of rare), interesting and would want to hang out sometime and maybe see if something more develops, am now ready for long term down the line if things work out. Also very game to hang out with people (men and women) as friends-could always use an extra friend or two (especially seeing as I find friends keep leaving Vancouver, tear). Especially looking for buddies who aren't afraid of playing outside in the rain! If you have a cool 6 Word Modern Love Story. Oh and if you can prove that you actually read my profile, "Hi, how are you?" doesn't work (argh and now I get this message all the time and don't know if that's cause they read my profile and are being clever or cause they didn't read my profile...so just don't write it please!). I'm at the point where I just want to be around people who are good at communicating and are open and honest with people.
