I moved to San Francisco nearly four years ago after being born and raised in suburbia and can't imagine ever going back. I love the energy of the city and everything it has to offer. I am very passionate about music, sports, writing and politics; the new experiences and people these activities have brought into my life have made me who I am. I love being challenged with new ideas and philosophies and constantly strive to learn with everything that I do.

I am a die hard Giants fan; born and raised. One of my favorite things to do is travel out to the ballpark and catch a game. I've averaged between 20-25 a year the last three years...finally joined the season ticket holder crop this year, and couldn't be happier with that call.

I have a very dry and sarcastic sense of humor, though I'm sure some who know me would tell you I'm just bitter. Don't listen to them.

I'm also a bit of a science nerd (or at least as much as one can be without any formal education). I love reading about astrophysics and spend a lot of time thinking about (I'm skipping ahead here, I know) our place in the universe and how incredible it is that we are here, on this planet in this time. It really is mind-blowing when you think about it.

I love being surrounded by friends and family, but there is nothing I value more than some time alone to decompress and just hang out with myself for a bit. That said, I have an extremely close knit family and group of friends, and they are the most important thing in the world to me. I don't know what I would do without them.

Also, I'm pretty old school when it comes to dating. I like to believe that chivalry isn't dead, and I conduct myself accordingly.

Though I'm currently settled in San Francisco, I am always looking for new opportunities and places to venture. I get up to Tahoe as often as possible, and spend a long weekend in Colorado at Vail and Breckenridge.

Update: after four years of commuting to the East Bay, I have finally accepted a job on San Francisco. I say this without hyperbole: IT IS LIFE CHANGING. Is this what I was missing those four years? Why didn't anybody tell me?!

I joined a kickball league in San Francisco a few years ago, and consider it one of the most fun decisions I have ever made. On any given weekday night you can usually find me with a clipboard in hand, coaching my team on the lost art of bunting. I also play in a softball rec league that I am oddly less competitive in than my kickball league. Not sure what that says about me.

I'm probably the only person on here who has this in their profile, but the first thing that comes to mind when I see this is vocabulary. I picked it up when I was writing a thousand papers in college, and get some sort of sick pleasure out of learning and using new words. I actually instituted a word of the day program at my job. True story. I continually get grief for using a semicolon in my kickball league emails.

I am fairly competent at and enjoy:

Obscure trivia with little to no functional use
Trying new types of Scotch

I have a fairly unique sense of style. I'm a pretty big fan of ties (shirt and tie to work every day) and if you see me out and about on a weekend, I'll usually be rocking a tie and my cons. And sweaters. Love me some sweaters.

I know its gotten cliche to say "I listen to all types of music", but I really do. You can usually find me rocking out (very big fan of rocking out) to anything ranging from punk to jazz. My favorite bands cover a wide spectrum: The Gaslight Anthem, The Reign of Kindo, The Receiving End of Sirens, Protest the Hero and Thrice are just the beginning.

I love reading. I'll read anything from sci-fi to historical fiction, Fortune Magazine to Alternative Press, The Wall Street Journal to RealClearMarkets.

Favorite books: The Art of Fielding, Never Let Me Go, Moneyball, Freakonomics, A Game of Thrones, pretty much anything by Chuck Klosterman or Chuck Palahniuk. I'm also not sure if this is embarrassing or not, but I still have a bunch of my old Econ textbooks and I've been known to peruse them every once in awhile.

I also own all of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books (as well as the newest movie) and think Douglas Adams is the most underrated writer of all time.

I consider the Stephen Colbert/Jimmy Fallon/Taylor Hicks cover of "Friday" by Rebecca Black to be the pinnacle of modern music.
