My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi. My name is Jeff.

I'm a Civil Engineer, which means I'm typically found out in the middle of open fields, vacant lots, or amidst the general chaos of my office. The work I do is typically preliminary - I normally tell people what they can or cannot build at a site, or if they have an idea in mind, what they need to do to prevent it from becoming another Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Outside of work I like to cook, read, watch movies, go hiking, do photography, talk, laugh, tell stories, doodle in the margins, cuddle, play video games and work out regularly. Unfortunately due to my job I have little time for most things.

I'm looking for a person who is fun to be around, even if that is only a couple hours every other day. I really enjoy conversation and I'd want to talk often if possible. I'm told I'm not choosy about women, as far as physical looks go I like someone with a few ounces of confidence and enough know-how to look good to themselves, if that makes any sense. Beauty, for me, is more about personality. If you're not fun there is no future, even if you do look like Aphrodite. Culture and race play little into my thinking.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working, hitting the gym, playing pool, finding new restaurants, trying new recipes, hanging out with friends and family.

I live in an apartment with two roommates and my roommate's cat, so by the transitive property of pet ownership I apparently have a cat as well.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Communication - surprisingly enough - or, for an Engineer at least. I'm fairly extroverted and outgoing, a rarity in my field, so it's something I've always spent time on.

I've gotten pretty good at picking up on the small things, particularly, finding out what people are looking for. So that means should we ever meet up, the first time will probably be at a bar, a coffee shop, or some restaurant I know to be pretty quiet and with really slow service. I'll want to learn about you; body language is fun in how it doesn't lie.

That being said, I am an engineer so I come equipped with a vocabulary full of poorly spelt words and only a vague understanding of proper grammar. And being an extroverted engineer means I have an odd way using cadence, sarcasm and tone to string together my run-on sentences.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm always warm, I eat quick and I'm horrible at hiding my emotions.

Also, I'll talk to anybody. I enjoy striking up a conversation with someone at a time that's not inappropriate, but one that's unexpected.

On a different note: I'm not Jewish - which I only mention because for some reason when most people first meet me they get the opposite idea. Apparently nobody gets the non-practicing Unitarian vibe from me. (You do get bonus points if you actually do know what a Unitarian is)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How I'm going to get back into shape. I used to work out 3-5 times a week, since I moved back to this area about a year ago, that had tapered of to about once every other week.

I'm working out again (2-3 times a week after work with a workout or two on the weekend), and if anyone is interested in being work out partners let me know (I've also been hearing things about gym dates - don't know what that'd be like, but willing to give it a go!).

That is to say though, that if you've looking for the marathon runner/MMA twisted steel look, then you best keep going. I've never been that fit, nor ever plan to be. I do to much else going on to be able to spend the two to three hours a day in a gym that would take. Some of those things involve making sauces from butter and meat fat.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Reading a book/joking with the bartenders at the Cue Club (my Cheers) in Annandale, unwinding at my apartment - contemplating an early night in order to catch up on a week of sleep, meeting up with family (the Mothership is in the Herndon/Chantilly area) or meeting up with the few old friends I still have in the area.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I rhyme when I'm drunk - I really have no clue why.

- if you want to talk. If you want to go out a few times and see if we like each other before jumping into bed. If you want someone to be around not someone to be around you.

Feel free to message first as well - confidence is attractive for both sexes.
