I am intelligent, introspective, and radioactive.
My Self-Summary
*Life update: I'm planning (planning is maybe too strong word that
implies more proactive preparation, how about 'expecting') to move
out of the area in the near future (hopefully to Baltimore, where I
don't know anyone). Just in case you live in the Jersey/Philly area
and thought we might fall in love and get married and spend our
lives together. Sorry.*
I've moved back to the
New Jersey area after a few years in
Virginia and, wouldn't you know it, it seems that most of my
friends have moved off. So I've gotten bored enough to fill out one
of these profiles.
I'm pretty big on
reading, or at least I try to convince
people that I am. I'm particularly fond of
Raymond Carver,
Jonathan Franzen,
Kurt
Vonnegut,
Gabriel Garcia Marquez,
and a few others, but I try to vary my genres and authors.
I love
music. A lot
of
folk and
folk-rock or even
folk-inspired-indie-rock
these days. But I love alternative hits from the early
nineties, too.
I have a
law
degree--and one in
philosophy and
literature too, for that
matter.
Also, I like that this site has an 'enemy' rating, but I haven't
found a way to sort through potential nemeses. Could you be my arch
enemy? I've always wanted one.
What I’m doing with my life
Not a whole lot.
I’m really good at
The
limbo.
Seriously, the last time I lost was December thirty-first 1999. You
can challenge me, but loser buys drinks.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'd really like to say, 'my dashing good looks,' but I guess
there's a picture up and you're not likely to be fooled.
I can be pretty loud when I'm in uncomfortable social situations.
That probably gets some attention.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Here are a few...
Books: Italo Calvino's 'If on a winter's night a traveler,'
Jonathan Franzen's 'How to Be Alone,' Donna Tartt's 'The Secret
History,' and Raymond Carver's 'What We Talk About When We Talk
About Love'...
Movies: The Royal Tenenbaums, The Princess Bride, Brick, Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Graduate...
Music: Magnolia Electric Co., Bon Iver, Elliott Smith, Okkervil
River, Jeff Buckley, The Weakerthans, Neutral Milk Hotel, Broken
Social Scene, Josh Ritter (you can get a pretty detailed look at
what I listen to at: http://www.last.fm/user/sinisterjeff)
The six things I could never do without
I don't need this or this. Just this ashtray. And this paddle game,
the ashtray and the paddle game and that's all I need. And this
remote control. The ashtray, the paddle game, and the remote
control, and that's all I need. And these matches. The ashtray, and
these matches, and the remote control and the paddle ball. And this
lamp. The ashtray, this paddle game and the remote control and the
lamp and that's all I need. And that's all I need too. I don't need
one other thing, not one - I need this. The paddle game, and the
chair, and the remote control, and the matches, for sure. And this.
And that's all I need. The ashtray, the remote control, the paddle
game, this magazine and the chair.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Zombies and sad robots.
How is the zombie apocolypse going to start? How long am I going to
last? Will I think they're so awesome then?
Why are the robots so sad? Are they out-dated technology? Or are
they just lonely, like we are?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'm actually a super-hero.
You should message me if
You are a writer, artist, poet, or musician. I am none of these
things, but I am incredibly attracted to the creative process and,
vicariously, to the people involved in it.
If you're just an interesting person who wants to help keep me
entertained. I have been frustratingly bored, but it's not so hard
to peak my interest.
If your favorite line from On the Road isn't the 'The only people
for me are the mad ones...' but, instead, "A pain stabbed my heart,
as it did every time I saw a girl I loved who was going the
opposite direction in this too-big world."
