I am intellectual, artistic, and altruistic.

My Self-Summary

I am a little odd. I have really varied interests and it's making it difficult to choose a major. I'm really into biology, but I'm an artsy type too. Not the kind that's consistently good with names, though. I've taken an anthropology course and adored it. I'm a huge fan of museums and zoos. When I remember my dreams, many of them take place in zoos, museums, or libraries. Rather unfortunately, I'm a pretty loyal Nintendo fangirl. (I have been swayed to the PS2 several times.) My most recent geeky obsession is steampunk; in fact, I've essentially joined an acting troupe dedicated to it.

I thought I hated the artist Duchamp, but the bastard won me over. Salvador Dalí is one of my favorite old dead guys, right up there with Gregor Mendel and Walt Disney.

My favorite Beatles song is "A Day in the Life."

What I’m doing with my life

I'm in college and majoring in genetics with a possible second major in art. I have worked as a lab assistant, which was pretty snazzy(especially the research bit). I just got back from working for the Mouse. Yes, I took a semester off to come down to Orlando and be an underpaid Disney cast member. I loved nearly every minute of it, and miss it incredibly. Eventually, I'd like to be a Disney Imagineer.

Right now I'm taking classes at the UW.

I’m really good at

...making art projects out of cardboard.

I've made a fully-functional, art-deco chair. Yes, it supports my weight. I've also made an entirely nonfuctional tube aquarium from cereal boxes. Yes, it has jelly fish.

I also really enjoy assemblage, which is pretty much gluing little things together to make a bigger thing.

I'm decent with a pottery wheel. I love sewing, but I'm not comfortable with saying I'm fantastic at it yet.

On an entirely different note, I am riduculously at home with microscopes. Daily screening of drosophila for wing mutations will do that to you.

The first things people usually notice about me

Maybe my clothes? I really like wearing large patches of primary and secondary colors. I feel like that sort of thing can be seen from a distance. Otherwise, in large groups I'm pretty much the quiet kid with the great one-liners.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(A) Time Traveler's Wife, V for Vendetta, Catcher in the Rye, Life of Pi, Uglies
(B) Kill Bill vol.2, Pirates of the Carribean, Cemetary Man, Sunset Boulevard, Out of the Past (1947), Lilo and Stitch, The Incredibles, Shaun of the Dead
(C) Gorillaz, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, White Stripes, Regina Spektor, Suzanne Vega
(D) Raspberries, Shrimp, Tabouleh, Strawberry Rhubarb or Lemon Merringue Pie, Creme Brule, Tortellini, Sushi, Samosas, Jambalaya, and many more. I'm a foodie.
As far as TV, Bones is spiffy (it helps that I'm good at calling who the bad guy is), Avatar the Last Airbender is epic (with often disappointing dialog, but still), and The Venture Brothers is one of those shows that can brighten my day anyday.

The six things I could never do without

Citrus fruit (Scurvy! Just kidding, I crave orange and lemon peel when stressed.), Water, my Prismacolor markers, an overlarge polar fleece, my younger siblings (I'm big sis by 8 years), my metallic mauve bicycle

I spend a lot of time thinking about

My future, my past, my present.

Frankly, I'm trying to figure out where I'm going with my life. I think about changing my major a lot. I also think about happy things like costume design and Disney and zoos!

On a typical Friday night I am

Working, sadly. Then going home and being a geek. Occasionally, I'll call up some friends. I'm exciting, you see.

You should message me if

You find any of my little asides funny?

I guess you should let me know if we share interests.
