I remember when I was 8 or so, realizing that even if the future me could come back through time and give me a heads up, as it were, on how best to live out my life, that the reason I had not done so must be that I would have learned by that far-future time that it would not be the right thing to do.

I guess I have a motto. "Don't do what you can't do." That perspective has been helpful to me over the years.

Making strangers smile. Loving, 'cause it's the greatest thing. Clarification on that last: Loving what is, accepting that my lot in life is really amazing, just like everybody else's. As in, distinct from 'fucking'.

Watching the original "Rollerball", 'cause I like hearing hundreds of people chanting "Jonathan" over and over again. Remembering stuff, forgetting other stuff to make brain space.

Playing music with some good friends for more than 14 years now. Our most recent cd, mixed by Dan, is an amazing thing. It is, much like me, a tour de force.

Curing hiccups. Seriously, I make them go away in moments, and it doesn't involve frightening you. I just talk for a bit, and they are gone. Also, I can help you laugh. Probably make you laugh, but that seems rude. But you will be laughing. Yes, laughing, probably right out loud. And later, you will think, "What a funny man! I am so glad I met him!"

Footfall's a favorite, as is Dark Knight Returns, and the White PLague. Stephen King stuff is nice, too. Serenity, Star Wars, Spielberg, except for the Tom Hanks at the airport one, Kinsey, Come back to the Five and Dime Billy Dean, Jaws, Costner's The Postman, no matter what you've heard, it is a beautiful film. Did I mention Star Wars? Tom Waits, PF, the Dead, Cranberries, etc. Most food is good, but okra is slimy. Maybe I just haven't had it prepared correctly, he wrote, as if to draw a line in some sand...

Somebody edited this last a while back. I'd met her here, and we'd been communicating online and a few phone calls, but never in rl, so as far as she was concerned, that edit is for her the truth.
