You don't let other people make up your mind for you.
You aren't a hater.
You do not think that living voluntarily in Guatemala means that I am crazy
I am a very down to earth, unpretentious person. I am not a beer snob, not a wine snob, movie snob, music snob, whatever. I just want to enjoy my life and not worry about stuff like that!
I am a former Peace Corps volunteer - I did my service in Guatemala. It was a great experience and I enjoyed it quite a bit! Next on my list of places to travel to: Spain, Egypt, Turkey, Moldova (mom's family is originally from that area), and Central Asia. I also like taking day trips to fun local places, whether it's a wine tasting, hiking, or an arts/cultural festival.
I like traveling, cooking, dancing, karaoke (even though I can't sing worth a &*%$), and kayaking. There is something very cool about spending the day or afternoon kayaking and having lunch outdoors :) One of my goals is to become skilled enough to make a 14 day kayaking trip in the Florida Keys I heard about, it sounds like an amazing experience!
I don't think that people who have the biggest house and newest car are the happiest - if you always want the newest, best thing, then you are probably always going to be unhappy with what you have.
I think this carries over to relationships too. If you always want the bigger house and more expensive car to impress people, you might have a similar attitude about your romantic relationships. You'll trade them in for something "better" when it's convenient.
Something I have learned is that you cannot and should not try to change a person to make them fit your own life goals and needs. You should accept a person for who they are, quirks and all, and not judge too much - you never know what another person's life has been like.
