My self-summary
I like people. People who engage in deep conversations, tell a crazy story, have a kind smile, or make me laugh till I cry... these are the ones who make life interesting. If you are one of those people, I'd love to get to know you. I love to learn about new things, so I am particularly drawn to people who are passionate about something- it almost doesn't matter what. If you can speak intelligently on a subject, I'll take the time to listen and learn.

I love to travel, particularly to places which allow me to escape from my typical reality in some way. I tend to be drawn to the great outdoors as opposed to cities, though my passion for good food and drink is sometimes at odds with my desire to enjoy open spaces.

My faith is the core of who I am. Finding someone who understands the significance of that statement is important to me.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently I am a school social worker for an elementary school. For the ten years before that, I taught middle school special ed. People always comment, "You must be so patient!" However, I think the real key to success is a great sense of humor. Somewhere down the line, I hope to be working with at-risk teens in some sort of faith-based non-profit organization.
I’m really good at
Talking. Writing. Drinking coffee. Maintaining friendships. Lego Batman. Death stares (comes with the job).
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I am always reading something. I often cheat and listen to books on tape during long drives. Some all-time favorites include "To Kill a Mockingbird," "Brave New World," "Mere Christianity," and "Pride and Prejudice," among others. A recent fun read was "Orange is the New Black." I love sharing books from my childhood with my students. Reading The Giver with my 7th graders was one of the highlights of my year.

I have a broad taste in movies. Love Actually, 13 Conversations About One Thing, A Scanner Darkly, The Machinist, and The Exorcist come in around the top. Like I said, broad.

Music depends on my mood. I play the cello and sing, so music resonates with me, however, I don't listen to it as much as you would assume.

Food is fantastic. I like to try new restaurants (I look forward to restaurant week in South Jersey and Philly each year). I also love to cook.
The six things I could never do without
Redemption, friends who tell it like it is, new places to visit, Philly sports teams, a job that lends a sense of purpose, possibilities.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future.
My faith.
Lego Rock Band.
On a typical Friday night I am
Typical Fridays sound terrible. I can be found on my living room couch, at a local dive bar listening to a friend's band, at the stadium rooting on my Phils or Flyers, or on a roadtrip to visit friends. I spend my weeks managing crises. Weekends are mine.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
In my previous job, I would sometimes look at my super awkward middle schoolers and try to figure out which one I would have been back in middle school.
You should message me if
Faith is important to you on days other than Sunday.
You appreciate balance in life and in relationships.
You can write a message that:
a. Doesn't read like a text from one of my middle schoolers AND
b. Makes it apparent you READ my profile
