My self-summary
I would summarize myself as a well rounded geek. I work with computers and technology so I am well versed in that culture and related fandoms, but I am just as comfortable in the great outdoors hiking, camping and riding horses. I enjoy movies and television, but also a good happy hour and am no stranger to sports or a little exercise. Throughout all I do in life I am someone with a voracious apatite for knowledge and new experiences that help me improve as a person.

I am witty with a sharp sense of humor and I always enjoy trying to lighten the mood. I try to be well organized and properly prepared even if I am somewhat forgetful. I am very well versed in technology, but I do not have a device welded to my hand. I can understand and appreciate art as well as science and I am also very creative with an eye for photography and a talent for writing. In fact I'll probably enjoy almost anything as long as I have someone to do it with. On my own I am liable to fall into various ruts so I will freely admit that from time to time I need a bit of prodding to get out of my comfort zone.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I am working in a very interesting research job where I am looking to do a little professional development before I reassess where I am at in my career and if I want to look for new opportunities. I currently have a couple of good friends with whom I can do things with, but I am also looking to meet new people so I can settle down somewhere and be able to invest myself in a relationship.
I’m really good at
Directions, knowing where I am and general navigational skills. I like to say I have a geographic memory is that's actually something one can have. I am good with computers and technology of course, but I prefer to have things just work as opposed to needing to fiddle with them. I am very good at planning and organization (when I am not rushed at least) as I believe that a little clever forethought can prevent boatloads of misery. I have good physical endurance and I have no problem walking, hiking or biking lost distances as part of a day's adventure. Finally I would say I am a fount of general knowledge, some of it practical, much of it just interesting, but I a rarely find myself at a disadvantage.
The first things people usually notice about me
People tend to notice my sense of humor and Daily Show style wit. I always try to have fun with life and not take things too seriously. I am usually quick with a joke or a funny story from my vast repertoire of quirky life experiences to liven up almost any situation. I also have a memory that works like a personal version of Wikipedia that covers a huge range of topics and trivia. Of course like the real Wikipedia I'm never 100% accurate, but I did manage to win a pub trivia contest with the answer Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
In terms of Books in the fiction category I would have to choose Animal Farm due to the sorts of lessons it teaches about idealism and power. For non-fiction I would choose Moneyball because of its engrossing story on the benefits of getting the data and making innovative analysis to turn unscientific conventional wisdom on its head. I generally love any non-fiction book in the documentary style where past events provide powerful lessons for future action.

For fun I like to read your standard mix of science fiction and fantasy, although I tend to tire of the standard genre plots. I respect authors who try to dive into something new, especially if it involves transformation or new takes on what it means to be a person.

Since i worked for a film series in college I have a wide appreciation of films extending back to the silent era. My top pics definitely fall into what is normally seen in the IMDB Top 250 list, but I have a special affection for films made in the New Hollywood period between 1960 and 1982 where the content isn't quite so dated and the effects are pretty good, but there's an authenticity that one just doesn't see any more, especially after the rise of CGI.

For food I am open to pretty much anything, although I am a bit of a spice wuss and I don't like vegan foods that try to simulate non-vegan foods. I enjoy cooking at home, but only with other people as when I am alone I prefer to keep things simple. As for selected specifics I like sushi, but I won't try to make it, I prefer chicken over beef for every day meals, I prefer Thai over Chineese and if given an infinite menu to pick from I'd probably want to try some non-Italian European food (yes, even British).
The six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Probably thinking about what my next step in life is and whom I'd like to share it with. Also what I can personally do to help improve our nation's competitiveness with emerging economies. :-)
On a typical Friday night I am
Trying hard to avoid all of the typical Friday Night activities (clubs, bars, etc) because that is the busiest night of the week where you end up waiting for service and fighting with swarms of other people for limited seating and table space.

So on a typical Friday I tend to get out early for a happy hour then head back home to either hang out with friends or go to various private functions. Since my work life isn't that stressful I don't tend to have problems finding times on other weeknights to do typical Friday activities, only without all the hassle.

PS: In the summer months I have been known hit up the discount ticket night at Camden Yards for O's games.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
As an information security professional I know better than to admit private things so willy nilly, but it's probably harmless to admit that I have never been to a concert in the popular sense of the word. Just not much into loud and not much into crowds.
