I am hungry, determined, and filled with awesome.

My Self-Summary

I moved to Portland about a year ago, but I still feel new here. The last year has consisted of going to the coast, the mountains, biking, cooking, dancing, and finding gnomes puking black rainbows under my bed.

Sometimes shy, sometimes very outgoing. Audio engineer. Music whore. Traveler. Event producer. Window washer. Biker. Occasional teacher of English to non-native-speakers. Miniature explosions of massive creativity, lately in homemade-stencil-on-a-shirt form.

I believe life is to be enjoyed. Everyone should do all they can to enjoy their own life however they see fit. Any left over energy should be selflessly used to help others enjoy their lives.

What I’m doing with my life

For the next couple months, working as much as possible, saving money, and loving life in Portland before winter suffocates. In mid-January, in lieu of another cold rainy season, I'll be going back to South America to investigate why my phone's GPS has me in Montevideo, Uruguay. (Here to be exact: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=-34.900325,-56.165169&num=1&t=h&sll=45.523123,-122.634914&sspn=0.006295,0.006295&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=-34.900249,-56.165199&spn=0.004188,0.006727&z=17 )

I ride my bike everywhere, whether or not I'm doing anything with my life at the moment.

I have a sound system I engineer for shows/parties and occasionally produce my own events.

I am my own boss for my own business, and it's pretty much the best thing ever, even if I'm just starting out.

Sometimes I make music. It goes "bleep zap, chugga-chugga, ping, POW! doodle-doodle-doodle, swissshh!"

I’m really good at

Riding my bike somewhere awesome.

The first things people usually notice about me

Skipper. That's my truck. She's loud and sexy. '83 Toyota, jacked up with a roll bar and a hot orange puma stripe on her faded marine blue body. I wouldn't own a truck if I didn't need one for work, but I love her. She's fun and we go on adventures together.

I'm not sure what people notice about me, myself, or I... maybe that I'm a little off.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Travel guides, 'zines, The Elegant Universe, House of Leaves, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Leaves of Grass, Oh The Places You'll Go!, Specimen Days. Salinger, Vonnegut, Whitman, Cunningham, Alexis / Ilse Content... and so much more...

Movies: The Neverending Story, Trapped in the Closet, The -Qatsi trilogy, The Happiness of the Katakuris, Horton Hears a Who! (the new one), City of Lost Children, Oh Brother! Where Art Thou, 2001, May, this is hard.

MUSIC: Fast, slow, hard, soft. Everything and not. Music is kinda a big deal for me.

Lately heard: a lot of dubsteppy-electro-turbo-krunk. Ask for a mix!

Often heard: Matmos, Boy Crisis, Captain Ahab, DragonForce, March Fourth Marching Band, Shpongle, Mochipet, Sigur Ros, Can, SUN Project, Chromeo, Apparat, Alice Coltrane, The Flashbulb, Deerhoof, Boards of Canada, People Like Us, Cocorosie, Eric Satie, Venetian Snares, William Shatner, Secret Chiefs 3, Hallucinogen, Haltya, Oingo Boingo, Ludachrist, Girl Talk, Blue Scholars, Chopin, older Pink Floyd, Edith Piaf, and all variety of genres with artists who's names I don't know.

Food: Home made, taco bus, Thai, Indian, Ethiopian, Sushi, and pretty much everything.

What about visual artists? YES pictures ARE awesome! www.explodingdog.com , www.markryden.com

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How what I read in the news will effect me, and if I should care.

How I'm going to afford that trip to S America in January.

Melodies. Everywhere.

Probability waves of quantum particles and free will.

People. All of you. Weird bunch of wankers, the lot of you.

On a typical Friday night I am

There are no typical Friday nights! Somewhere between reading a book, working on music, dancing, and watching the moon rise over the ocean.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm very open about my past, so anything I'd remotely consider private isn't something you want to read right now.

Well that's not much of an answer. How about, I'm only afraid of things that I have experience enough to give me fear. Which is three things:

A little afraid of spiders (because when I was 7 I was tied down by rabid boyscouts and had dozens thrown on me).

Consciously afraid of guns (...).

Conquering fear of trust (because lying is ugly and honesty is beautiful).

You should message me if

...it's an idle weeknight and despite being kind of tired, despite being perfectly cozy watching MASH or reading a book, despite it being an hour away, you like the idea of throwing yourself to the wind and booking it to the coast. Because there's still time for marshmallows, there's still time to set up a tent, and there's always, ALWAYS time for a sunrise. Or sunset.

...and the idea of finishing that book sounds massively delicious.

Amazing experiences are what it's about.
