Born in Communist Russia in the aftermath of WWII, there were very few choices regarding your future. You could be a farmer, a soldier, or an abandoned strip mall security officer...easy choice. However, it wasn't all fun and prosperity. Russia's freshly bolstered post-war economy was just beginning to blossom into the juggernaut that it is today, and that meant that abandoned strip malls were quickly becoming an endangered species. I did the only thing I could. Fashioned a life-raft from bamboo shoots, bought a volleyball, and set sail for Hawaii. I missed. By a lot. I sailed for 4 straight days and smashed straight into the shores of Duluth Harbor to discover a galaxy of abandoned strip malls at my disposal. What a wonderful country.
