My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm Julia. I'm a native New Yorker who is very bad at volunteering positive adjectives to describe herself. I'm far more comfortable being snarky towards the general population- but I snark with genuine love and affection... so it's ok.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm currently working as a catering event chef for a few high end companies in Manhattan. I also work on developing menus and new recipes. This often results in a fridge full of food projects. Most of which end up in a stew or an ice cream by week's end.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
destroying the weak and inspiring the imaginative.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes. I've gotten stopped on several occasions in my life by strangers on the street and told how beautiful my eyes are... then they just walk away. It's like a hit-and-run complement, very strange.
And, well... boobs. But that's so old hat, it doesn't even register.

Nouveau American

I've never had much of a sweet tooth save for a particular cake (Red Velvet from Lord's Bakery in Flatbush, Brooklyn), a particular pie (Marionberry from Mehri's Bakery in Portland, OR) and Chocolate Chip Cookies (I really like cookies).

Gin/Vodka Tonic

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The Status Quo. I think a lot about perception, why things are the way they are and what can we do to change them. If things should be changed at all. Though when the latter enters my thoughts I remember that (to borrow a line from a great writer) "sitting at the back of the bus was how it was done until a 42 year old lady moved up front." I've never been all that impressed with the way things have always been done.

How I can combine ingredients to create a dining experience that is both affecting and unique.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Working. Part of being in the hospitality industry means that you work when others play. On the up side, I do get to sleep in most days and being able to have a relaxing brunch on a Tuesday afternoon is pretty awesome.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I've been told by several unrelated people on several unrelated occasions, that I would make an excellent cult leader. I have no plans to start one, but rest assured if I did, my cult would be awesome.
