My self-summary
I am a fellow who is definitely quite a mix, to say the least. I am an absolute bibliophile, and will be comfortable almost just about anywhere as long as I have a good book in hand.

However, I am also happy as a clam when ambling about any city or spot in the wilderness, with camera in hand as I seek out the best shots possible. In short, I am just as at home in the library as I am outside anywhere new or interesting, seeking adventure and oddity (though knowing my luck, oddity prefers to completely ambush me rather than be sought).

I'm also a fellow who cherishes humor and just joking about everything andnothing; no time is better spent than hanging with either friends and family and making crack after wisecrack until we've gone as far as absudist comedy can take us.
What I’m doing with my life
I recently returned from two years doing service teaching abroad in northeastern China, which while interesting, also happens to be a very, very chilly place for half of the year.

Now that I have made my return to the states, I'm working for a local media company, and also currently working on getting into graduate school for a Masters in Library and Information Systems.
I’m really good at
I've been known to do quite well when given the opportunity to write, or snap a few dozens photos. I also happen to be arguably far too adept at belting out over-enthusiastic and horribly off-key renditions of various 90's pop hits when the chance presents itself.

Also, I enjoy cooking and trying just about anything new in the kitchen, and thus there have been times where I have simultaneously made two to three completely unrelated dishes just because I wanted to see if I could prepare them.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm always willing to drops a few jokes to keep things light, even if I myself have no idea where I'm going with the punchline.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:A lot of history and historical fiction, and in particular anything related to China (due to my major and previous occupation), and the northeastern US

Movies: Ghostbusters (I&II), Zoolander, The Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?

TV: Law and Order: SVU, The Simpsons, The Daily Show, The Muppet Show, 30 Rock, and Parks & Recreation.

Music: Indie (Horse Feathers, Barefoot Truth, etc), classic rock (ranging from the Beatles to Fleetwood Mac and everything in between) and far too many oldies for my own good.
The six things I could never do without
1.) Family
2.) Friends
3.) My camera - For my hobby of choice
4.) NPR - Because apparently I cannot possibly be more of a lefty northeasterner, I simply have to get giddy as can be when "Wait! Wait! Don't Tell Me" comes on.
5.) Driver's license - I live in the suburbs, and my hometown is less than pedestrian-friendly.
6.) Books / Kindle - The latter is quite handy when you want to read, but find carrying over a hundred books around you to be a tad on the inconvenient side.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
A little bit of everything, honestly; if they sold a leash to help control wandering minds, I'd purchase one in a heartbeat.
On a typical Friday night I am
For me, Friday nights are preferably a low-key affair, and I'm just as comfortable spending them unwinding with a good book or movie as I am grabbing some drinks or a bite to eat with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am quite sure that I know nearly ever "Calvin & Hobbes" strip by heart at this point, but God forbid I retrain any of the math I learned in late high school or college.
