Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I enjoy [sailing], [biking], [walking], [running] or just sitting
around [talking] with friends.
I believe in working hard for personal success and trying to make
the world a better place. I spent 12 years working at a non-profit
to help abused and emotionally-disturbed children.
Myers-Briggs says personality is [INTJ] which puts me in the
company of about 1% of the population. What's yours?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is
then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We
should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner
I work in management consulting. I work hard and travel frequently
for my job, but I like to play hard too.
Weekends will usually find me doing some kind of home improvement
or car project if I'm not out sailing/biking/walking.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
[Driving]/[racing] - I used to teach high-speed driving. Now I'm a
volunteer firearm safety and personal protection instructor.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I wasn't sure how to answer this, so I asked a dear friend who's
known me for decades. Her response:
Physically: my eyes
Personality: my honesty and sincerity
I'm not sure how one notices honesty on a first meeting, but I
decided long ago that life would be more simple if I always told
the truth. That's proven to be true, although I do notice that she
didn't mention tactfulness... let's call that an evolving skill.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books - For decades my favorite book has been [The Lord of the
Rings]. I first discovered it in college and have been hooked ever
since. I'm also a big fan of [Atlas Shrugged] and [Tom Clancy]. The
Just finished 50 Shades of Grey because I wanted to see what all
the fuss was about. I still don't know! Feel free to explain it to
me. Currently reading about the Internet of Things
Movies - [Almost Famous], [Moulin Rouge].
TV - [Fargo], [The Americans], [Downton Abby]. [House of Cards],
[Game of Thrones], [Mad Men], [Orange is the New Black], [Saving
Grace] (why, oh why did they cancel this show?), [Seinfeld],
[Lilyhammer]. Favorite comedy of all time: [Coupling]. Look it up
on Netflix if you haven't seen it.
Music - My favorite band is the [Grateful Dead], but I enjoy many
kinds of music from classical to country to [classic rock]. Not
that interested in rap, hip-hop, etc.
Food - I live/eat a [Paleo] lifestyle which means, among other
things, I eat a lot of organic vegetables and grass-fed beef.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
[cast iron cookware] (see #2) This deserves more explanation.
Besides cooking bacon, I love cast iron because it's one of the few
items that we can buy today that is inexpensive and actually
improves with time. My kids can inherit cast iron cookware and it
will function better then than it does now. Totally
anti-consumerism. Very few things fall into that category. Fine
jewelry maybe? Or good hand tools.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Every other profile I view complains about guys who post selfies
without their shirt on. Do guys complain in their profile about how
many women post swimsuit pictures? Fill me in ladies!
What's for dinner? I'm all about the next meal! Actually, it goes
deeper than that. I think a lot about the food that we put into our
bodies, where it came from, and what it's doing to both our bodies
and our planet. I think about [Permaculture], organics, raw milk
(just made my own raw Kefir!), sustainable agriculture, how the
agro-industrial complex is in bed with the FDA & USDA. How can
we do it better? How can we support our local farmers and help
bring back the family farm?
I think about our consumer society and what it's done to us. How
our grand parents would be ashamed at the basic skills that most of
us have lost. How happiness doesn't come from how much is in your
brokerage account or how much stuff is collecting dust in your
McMansion, but from the relationships you cultivate and the
experiences you share with your family, friends and co-workers.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either decompressing from the week and planning my weekend or
spending time with my sons.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I put coconut oil in my morning coffee, don't knock it 'till you've
tried it! Let me know what you think it you do give it a try.
